Toronto is preparing itself for a second, larger edition of the twilight-to-dawn contemporary arts festival Nuit Blanche.
Art happenings are set to unspool across three downtown zones from Saturday evening until Sunday morning. More than 100 artists are taking part in city-curated exhibitions this year, with a further 125 independent partners producing additional projects.
The festival was expanded this year after last year's successful inaugural edition, at which more than 425,000 Torontonians watched, listened and participated in hundreds of art exhibitions, concerts, performances and installations in locales that ranged from art galleries to alleys.
The Nuit Blanche concept of a free, all-night arts, entertainment and cultural festival began in Paris in 2002 and has spread to countries around the world.
