I’ve actually heard it produces dirtier emissions. Regardless, the two main reasons for ethanol is that it is renewable and it doesn’t add new carbon to the carbon cycle. Weather it makes sense or not I don’t know but it is helping farmers in Canada well hurting poor Mexicans.
