That's the global economy, mannnn. This is why people have gathered in Seattle, and Quebec City, in Italy, and in other cities...to protest the kind of crap that allows this to happen...allows exploitation of poorer nations and loss of jobs in western nations.
But, at the same time....Hershey's is a business...plain and simple, and they have to make decisions...not all of them will be popular...but they have to be made. It is unfortunate, because Smith Falls appears to be a one industry town, which is never good, because if that industry leaves, the town is screwed. But, that can't hold a company back from making the best decisions it can make for itself...and the press to globalize the economy makes it almost essential for a company to move out of places with high labour costs.
