In the wake of a decision by the federal government to bring in a new tax on income trusts, BCE Inc. has dropped its plan to convert to a trust.

This doesn't really surprise me, with the tax loophole closed converting to an income trust is pointless.

With the federal government choosing to speed up the deregulation of the telcom industry, BCE will now be able to compete with the cable companies, which having been eating into Bell's market share quite a bit.
