I don't know. I've been in Toronto for almost 20 years now and I love the place. I don't know if it's the best place to live because people and circumstances change from one person to the next. So as an empty-nester now Toronto or any large Canadian city has a lot to offer.

I can see the attraction to the quiet and peacefulness of a smaller community away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities though. Great for raising kids, affordable housing lower crime and so on.

I like the East better than the West though. I've lived in many cities in the West.

WElllllllllllllll;

We've (I've) considered moving to Northern Man. or Sask. just for the fishing, but too old to pull up roots now. Plus "the mama" says I"m haulin my own ass up there all alone.......so I ain't goin.....actually.................keeps one at home and happy.

Ottawa would be nice. Good Celtic music groups. They probably wouldn't let me join.

Kingston, yep. Lived there; loved it.

Down East somewhere.........Ain't never been, but I'd go for the music.

Hongcouver would be ok, but ...............the rain.........the rain..........Good Chinese food, though. And me bro in law and I could run some crab traps....num num.

Backwater's not a bad spot to be.

Windsor would be really nice............

S'it.

The reason there's music Down East is because of the rain, kinda like all the good bands coming out of Winnipeg because of the cold, there ain't nothin' else to do besides . It only rains in Hongcouver in the winter, it only not rains Down East in February.

This 50 acres, another acreage on this side of lake, and 2 or 3 spots on the other side of the lake. No cities, they dehumanize people.

The best places to live in Canada are a 5 hours flight from the nearest jug of fresh milk.

wow. Are we ever fooled then. We live about a ten minute drive from it. 5 hours of flying? I think we'd pass on it and buy homogenized anyway.

These were my answers. Without telling him mine, I asked my best friend what his top five places to live in Canada were. These are his choices:

Pemberton, BC

Whistler, BC

Terrace, BC

North/West Vancouver, BC

Stewart, BC

See?! BC is the best! Funny how close our picks were...

My picks, in order of completely subjective quality:

1. My house

2. Saskatoon

3. Regina

4. Anywhere on the prairies that isn't in Alberta

5. Any place where there's wilderness and good fishing within a few hours drive.

Nanaimo B.C. because it is the best little city in Canada.

Lake of the Woods Near Thunderbay. Ten years ago I pulled pound and a half to two pound pickerel out of that lake as fast as I could rebait the hook

Victoria B.C. because I like it.

Cambell River B.C. because it's one of the last good places to fish for Spring Salmon.

Long Beach.....West side of Vancouver island. Miles of sandy beaches.

1. North of Superior - despite the cold in winter, black flies is summer, it's still the most beautiful part of country, in any weather.

2. Northwest Coast of Newfoundland - Twillingate, Corner Brook - but you can find lovely places in all parts of the Rock

3. Laurentians, Tremblant, Algonquin Park - the Quebec countryside is gorgeous. Right at the edge of the boreal and carolinian forests and the southern perimeter of the Canadian Shield.. especially beautiful in fall colours.

4. Rocky mountain foothills - dramatic scenary, alpine air.

5 Saskatchewan Prairies. - big sky, golden fields, salt of the earth communities.

I left out the Pacific coast, because its just too gauche, in vogue, expensive and crowded.. and its denizens are just too New Age and Politically Correct, all environmental fanatics. The only place that really is worse is Toronto, with its 'Pride Parade', garbage strikes, humidity, lousy architecture, monstrous Roger's Centre, and incessant claims to be 'World Class' - GTA.

High River, Alberta - small town, rural, quiet and country.

Longview, Alberta - even smaller and more rural and more country.

Almost anywhere between Kingston and Ottawa

Calgary - no complaints to date

Cape Breton - haven't been there yet, but the people I've met from there are squared away.

LOL - Princeton is one of your best picks? Why?
Mine would be -
Vernon
Penticton
Nanaimo
Ucluelet was a fun and friendly place to live for a couple of years but that was long enough.
I own a "plot" of land in Princeton
Loved our years in Penticton.
