I got a phone call wanting to know who we were voting for in the election. I said we hadn't made up our minds. Then she began talking about the Liberal candidate in our riding. Then it clicked in my mind so I said you mean the provincial election. Yes indeed would I vote for the candidate, I had to laugh as I told the caller that no I would not be voting Liberal. I imagine the caller will get that answer a lot here. Isn't it a bit early for campaigning, or has Clarke called the election?

Hither and yon
BC was the first Province to commit to fixed election dates.
The election is to be held on the second Tuesday in May every four years.
So you could pretty much say the election has been called.

It is time. Next time I come home I will have to cast an absentee ballot since I will be back at work during the election.

What I really hate is that once again BC will probably make another wild swing and we will have another majority government. I yearn for a minority NDP government. It would force some honesty and cooperation. We swing one way then we swing the other way it seems every election for as long as I can remember, and so we get crooked dictators from both parties.

It will cripple your Province and push it deeper into dept during uncertain times. You guys need stable government.

The writ will be dropped on April 14th and that is the beginning of the campaign.
As for the Liberals, who are really conservatives hiding behind a label it is the end
for that bunch. The will be all but wiped out on election day.
They speak about the former government being a financial mess. This so called
Liberal government has literally doubled the debt. It went from somewhere around
twenty seven or twenty eight billion to nearly sixty billion in twelve years. This so
called balanced budget is a joke and who ever gets elected will scrap it.
The lates polls have the NDP at 48% the Libs around 28% and falling. the Greens
are no contest and the BC Conservative Party is a bunch of social conservatives
who want to play the religion card and all that stuff.
This election the NDP has my vote.

I am working harder today than I did years ago, I am a farmer actually and I have
had enough of this government. Some are saying we need a strong government
and we need financial stability. Well the Liberals who are a coalition of the Libs,
and conservatives have provided anything but stability. They have added to the
debt faster than any other group in BC history. When they came to office the
debt was a little less than thirty billion, now it is nearly sixty billion.
This government has lost the favour of residents and members of its own party.
Tonight, its reported there are two factions fighting for control of the party once
the election is over and Christie is history. There is nothing but chaos in the ranks
of the Liberal Party.
I don't see how the NDP can do any worse and many of the BC NDP candidates
are business people this is going to get interesting.

Really? Hmmmmm, that's strange, because when I lived in BC I always had a job..... the libs took over and the company I worked for went tits up and I had to move to Alberta for work. Best thing I ever did. I'm doing a hell of a lot better here than most I know that stayed in BC under campbell and his band of crooks.

I think a lot of people get obsessed with voting for the party rather than the candidate. Parties are more similar than many people imagine in that they do whatever it takes to get elected and stay elected and cash in the big pension. If everyone concerned themselves with the candidates in their riding and asked them the tough questions, I think we'd all be a lot better off. I have little doubt that the N.D.P. will win the next election, not that they deserve to so much as the Liberals deserve to lose, and if they do we won't be one iota better off a year from now than we are today.

So you've forgotten the shenanigans of Glen Clark and Fudgit Budget Cull, the missing $100 million, the "balanced budget" that became unbalanced about 3 days after the election. The exodus to Alberta started long before Campbell took over, I know, two of my sons headed for Alberta in the late 90s because there was no work here while Clark was still premier.

Socialists are bad for the economy and non government jobs.

But they are good as long as they have someone else's money!-:)

Well, it cuts out a lot of bullsh*t.

Ah the joys of election time in La-La land. ;-)

I have happily been answering polling calls and filling out Angus Reid polls online about the coming election. It gives me great pleasure to voice my opinion on the current government.

I still don't know who I will vote for though..........been a long time since I could say that.

It will cripple your Province and push it deeper into dept during uncertain times. You guys need stable government.

If we do, it will be under the NDP..............which having somehow lived through the Glenn Clark years, rather makes my heart flutter. To be dead honest.........at this point they could do no worse than the Libs.

That's my prediction, though no matter who comes out on top, we are in deep doo-doo, RCS. Deeply in debt. We just changed back to the PST on April Fool's Day and having finally grasped the significance of the tax to business now makes me wonder if my decision to vote against it was such a wise idea.

The.........what was it.... addition to his house that saw the news crews racing to shoot photos of cops raiding our Premiers' residence. I remember chuckling to myself years later when I heard that Clark had been hired for a position with Jim Pattison. Just goes to show a leopard may indeed change his spots. ;-)

I'm far from rich, however the Liberals have certainly been really bad for those of us who aren't rich, I don't see how the NDP could do worse.

"Changing horses midstream" seldom works too well.

Which "leopard" changed his spots? Clark or Pattison? -:)

Much the opposite for me. The NDP all but destroyed my business and the forest industry on the coast especially. Yes I could probably have done better in Alberta as well but it lacks an ocean and has snow. SO far trickt dix has come out as against every major project proposed in BC. Those are the source of my income so NO to dippers.

Having lived in BC since I was a kid I have watched governments come and go. Good times and bad times under the old Soc Cred's to the NDP and the Liberal's. One common thread among all of them has been scandal of one sort or another and it has been my experience that BC'ers don't vote in a party, they vote one out.

You must have really liked the HST since it was designed for the business owners and wealthy people.

Christianna- It really matters not if we have H.S.T. P.S.T. G.S.T. or any two or all three combined! If there is a shortage of money the Gov't. just introduces another tax/fee/surcharge. Switching back from the H.S.T. to the G.S.T/P.S.T. could well be the stupidest thing we could do. When the offer was made to reduce the H.S.T. to 10% we should have jumped on it (albeit the benefit would probably only lasted until the election) -:)
