The draw for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers has taken place. The 2010 World Cup is being held in South Africa, the first time the world's biggest sporting tournament after the Olympics has been held in Africa.

Amazingly, England and Croatia are drawn in the same group again. Both were in the same group for the Euro2008 qualifiers, and Croatia's 3-2 win over England on Wednesday ensured that England will not compete at Euro 2008. Now the teams are in the same group for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers and England have a chance of revenge. Andorra are also in the same group as England and Croatia as they were for the Euro 2008 qualifiers. England must also play Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

Meanwhile in the Asia section of the South Africa 2010 World Cup qualifiers, Australia are in the same group as Iraq. Both teams were in the same group as each other in this year's Asia Cup. Under Saddam, the Iraqi players were often beaten and tortured by one of Saddam's soccer-loving sons, including being dragged behind a moving car whenever the team lost. Now, thanks to the removal of Saddam, the Iraq players play without fear and went on to WIN the Asia Cup earlier this year.

Canada must play St Vincent and the Grenadines in their North American section and the United States must play the winner of Dominica VS Barbados

The number of countries taking part in the World Cup qualifiers shows how popular the world's biggest team sport now is around the world.

England have survived a bad draw but have been drawn against the side who knocked them out of Euro 2008 in the World Cup 2010 qualifiers after today's draw in Durban

Slaven Bilic's men ran out 3-2 winners at Wembley in midweek to seal England's fate and the teams will get the chance to renew acquaintances when the road to South Africa begins next autumn.

Here are the groups for the qualifying round of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The matches for Europe's region, UEFA, will get under in September 2008 after Euro 2008 has finished. Australia have moved from the Oceania region into the Asia region as they were always too strong for their opponents such as New Caledonia, US Samoa, and Fiji. South Africa qualify automomatically as hosts but still take part in the qualifiers as the African qualifying section is also the qualifying round for the 2010 African Cup of Nations
