Renewable energy took a great leap forwards today with the sale of a wind farm to a French corporation. The initial investment was $29Million, it sold for $124Million. The owners raked in a huge profit in just a few years.
The "leap" is that renewable energy is proving to be a great financial windfall, and so more projects like this will start up now. Previously, 'conservative forces' had convinced investers that renewable energy [solar and wind, for eg.] was not worth it.
I have posted here before about this. Solar power is highly profitable, and apparently a much better investment than fossil fuel power generation investments, which require constant fuel input, whereas solar panels and wind mills operate for free for 25 years or more after set up. The returns may be as high as 100 times the returns for other power plants when the lifetime operations are considered.
Government regulations and subsidies to fossil fuels are keeping renewable energy from becoming what it could be. Without government intereferance, this solution to global warming is not only possible, it is practicle and profitable too. Imagine what it copuld be if governments got out of the way, or even HELPED get these investments going. Just as much help as the tar sands gets, that will be enough, thank you.
