_ hate to point this out but you already are in a "cashless" society. When you pay by cash, do you think it is "your cash" that is making it to "your bank"? Furthermore, do you think it is your "cash" that is being socked away in someone elses bank? Credit, debit, paypal. All cashless. All interbranch and interbank transfers - cashless.
You may say that those arn't truly the "cashless" that is refered too and I'd agree, but I ask you is it because they didn't want it as such or because the technology didn't exist then? I would assume it has more to do with the technology not being available, moreso than any altruestic vision of bankers, corperations, governments, etc.
Enter the RFID tags, being brought forth for trial to a airport near you! Also, elderly alzheimers patients are also being tagged with these things in the States, and trail runs are on going in farming for their resliency. Do you think that a hundred billion dollor industry(and growing) is only going to be used for elderly and cattle? Come on.
