Are elections are not rigged. They were just never intended to be popular votes.And two; the reference was to the US system, not Canada's. If you wish you can point out that elections in Russia or some other nation are also rigged. It still does not change the fat that gerrymandering has pretty much made a mockery out of many US elections.
Don't get me wrong, I think the reasons for the EC are long gone, and I would support doing away with it (it's an obvious and utter failure) and replacing it with direct national popular election of the President.
