Because students have old textbooks, because Franklin school in Vancouver looks shabby. Signs on entrances are shabby looking, when it rains a big lake is made in the south portion of the field a child could fall and drown in. Teachers, trustees and the ministry of education talk a good game, but how many have in their mission statements something simple like this:

"Students are our top priority, to buy students new textbooks,
gym equipment, lab equipment and a top-notch physical plant
are our highest priorities. Teachers, unions, trustees, politicians
and bureaucrats come second. The system exists for students,
not any other so-called 'stakeholders' who makes a claim on the
system's funds and resources."

I bet the premier's office or the legislature in Victoria has newer carpet and linoleum installed all over than Franklin school has.
On the current education roundtables, I never hear anyone talking about getting the best and newest textbooks for students.

When both the BCTF and the ministry of Education said they did not know how big class sizes were, it is clear we are stuck in a bureaucratic tyranny. Empty plastic words from all sizes. A white collar hate-in.

That Stephen Harper stumbles over his love for Canada is a sign of a minority government. Has he nothing to say why he feels happy to be a Canadian? Has the wet blanket never traveled? It is so obvious Harper is like Dick Cheney, he is itching to implement his secret corporate-bureaucratic agenda on Canadians. I don't need to be managed by Harper and his crew. I think I will plant my protest vote with the NDP.
