Why Both Immigration AND Big Stimulus Spending?

Actually I believe that it is closer to 80% of exports going to the US. And I like your small town analogy. Most businesses in small towns went out of business as the town populations declined. I expect there would be a similar decline nationwide if Canada's population dropped.
Everyone I talk to who has been out and looking for work have been looking for over a year! I just got a job offer for 13.50 an hour from a medical clinic. It infuriates me because the starting wage USEd to be 15 an hour in ontario in 1990 with no experience just answering phones. These doctors make over a million a year. I am also a health records manager, a coder for the world health organization, one of the best medical transcriptionists in canada (that is because I am very good with FOREIGN accents of which most doctors are!). Alot of the transcription work is now automated this is why I cannot find work. If there are so many jobs than why does one go to ottawa and send out over 500 resumes and have no job offer and that same person (ME!) go to alberta with NO RESUME and get 3 jobs at one, one in my field and ONE for my male friend who NEVER had a full time job in new brunswick- but I managed to get him into Fraser Mills in a small town in alberta at a start ing rate of 35 an hour as an apprentice welder. Its so sad to see 2 guys I work with, white, canadian born for generations here, have university degrees and they are doing temp work for agencies in ottawa who pay 12 an hour. Both of these men never get enough work to have their OWN PAD or a stable relationship. I never heard of this when I was growing up, educated canadians males not being able to move out on their own at age 30??? Coudld it be our trader politicans are replacing them with brown people from a foreign land ??? hum............

Nannies, counter service fast food jobs, and migrant worker jobs for one thing. Yet there are obviously many more jobs because the country took in over 300,000 immigrants and temporary workers in 2009.
Misprint, I knew it was over 80%, it is a bit less due to the US recession. Not too global here.
But small towns persist, some die, but most go on. One could say they are having a cultural resurgence with hockey and curling, they both get high ratings on TV. Most small towns have more curling clubs than Vancouver.
The media likes to portray small towns as a modern day apartheid South Africa, holding out against the immigration hordes flooding into the country. They resist the "changing face" of the nation. lol
