My business enjoyed sustainability during the Canadian Liberal years, I took a dive when Alibaba and the 90 thrives came into power...................Alibaba or Brian Brown Bags....

During the recession you mean, that wasn't Brian's fault.

.....but his policies made things worse than they should have been including his consumption tax, not that I'm against it but it's hardly something you present to Canadians during a tough recession and it's not something that should be increased during one either.

All governments in a recession get oblitrerated....Rae, Bush Sr, Brian got defeated because of the economy.

Harper had better be careful in the next Parliament especially when he promised to ram his crime bill down the oppositions throat.

I'm not sure just why there is even speculation that Harper might need to be replaced by his
own Party. With five Parties running, and still increasing the Conservative Seat count by 19,
and coming out of this election with 143/308 seats...and the Liberal Party in dire financial
shape...this might as well be a majority. The only one who can or will overthrow this session
would be Harper himself, and that's not going to happen until 2012.

Though they'll make lots of noise, the Liberal Party will either vote along the same lines as
the Conservatives, or they'll abstain from voting. With the Conservatives having more seats
than the Bloc & NDP & the Independents combined, the only Party that can overthrow them
is the Party that can't afford to so it wont. This was a Win for the Conservatives. If anything
stalls Parliament, then it turns into a confidence vote and the Liberals either back the Conservatives
or the Liberals will have about 70 MP's absent from the vote. No two Parties can vote down
the Conservatives on their own, and that was all that was needed for it to be a Win for the
Conservative Party.

Harper won't and shouldn't resign, he has become an effective politician for his party.

The crime bill will not be easy to implement, being the Block, Gussepe will make Harper look stupid in the eyes of Quebecors.. Unless Harper is totally in denial that Quebecors are in favore to throw a 14 year old in jail for 20 years before alegable for parol....

Socrates, my friend, I hate to sound obtuse but, So what if the Bloc makes Harper look stupid
in the eyes of Quebecers? Bloc & NDP & Liberals & Independents equals more seats than the
Torries unless Harper makes this a confidence vote. If push comes to shove, shove turns into a
confidence vote, and this crime bill will (strategically) come to pass early into this Governments run
while the Liberal's pockets are still not so heavy. It won't be that hard due to the timing.

If you think I'm wrong, what would you do in Harpers place. Not the Liberal mindset, but in
Harpers place?

Soc has a one track mind and can't think 'outside the block'.

Soc's a bright guy. He's just really passionate about the Liberals. Maybe this is just
a "forest for the trees" sort of thing. Maybe the Liberals will roll the dice on their own
extinction on principal, but I don't think so. Socrates may think otherwise.
