RE: WHO PAYS INCOME TAX IN AMERICA ???

Very true, BitWhys. Very true.

But it's also true that the total amount of taxes
the bottom 50 percent of society in both Canada
and United States contributes less than 5 percent
of all income tax collected.

The burden is still tougher on that bottom 50 percent.

But here's the rub, if we want the bottom 50 percent
of society to contribute less than 5 percent or maybe
down to zero percent, will their political persepective
of the situation become LESS RESPONSIBLE ???

Federal Income taxes, Jim. Federal Income Taxes.

I've seen a few good articles that demonstrate (probably not by accident, mind you) that with all the hidden, consumption, property, provincial, sin and whatevers when you stack it all up it turns out things as an aggregate actually aren't all the far from that flat tax that gets advocated on occassion.

Good point, BitWhys. I'm a big fan of flat tax because
of its dictatorial simplicity, a thing most people can
understand and see, and not with a progressive tax shot through with loopholes and complexity that assures every tax backracket to be subject to the accusation of being a liar.
