She's so bad even the Nat Post/Sun can't help but notice.....

Last month, her office used a photo of slain Cpl. Nathan Cirillo in a Conservative fundraising campaign that offered donors Easter hams. (Gallant later had to apologize after receiving complaints from Canadian Forces veterans).

This time, Gallant is making some bizarre claims after a Citizen article revealed that some funding for Cyclone maritime helicopters as well as the Integrated Soldier System Project (ISSP) was being delayed because of the Liberal government’s new budget.

She accused the Liberal government of failing the Canadian Forces and putting troops at risk in Afghanistan.

“Only Liberals would sell off our Chinook helicopters before a replacement, which was supposed to be the EH-101 helicopter, was in place,” Gallant said in the Commons and highlighted in a news release sent out Friday to journalists. “Without the strategic lift helicopters cancelled by the Liberals, soldiers died unnecessarily on the bomb-laden roads of Afghanistan.”

One problem with that statement. It was Brian Mulroney’s Conservative government that sold off Canada’s Chinooks to the Dutch.

The false claim that it was the Liberals who sold the Chinooks has been repeated over the years by a number of Conservatives, including Chris Alexander and Peter MacKay.

And Gallant continued.

“The same question can be asked of the Trudeau Liberals over their decision to cancel the Integrated Soldier System Project,” she told the Commons. “That uniform is designed to protect the lives of individual soldiers. As a personal armour protection system, its immediate purchase has become more critical with the politically motivated decision to withdraw Canadian air cover from soldiers deployed against ISIL in the Middle East.”

Gallant also said the ISSP is a “uniform” that will “protect Canadian soldiers from chemical and radiological weaponry.”

A personal armour protection system? The Integrated Soldier System Project will deliver a wearable communications and navigation system for the troops.

“The Integrated Soldier System Project (ISSP) will acquire and support over 4,000 soldier-wearable communication suites, complete with required accessories, support equipment, contract management, training, logistic and engineering support,” the Canadian Forces has noted.

According to the news release issued in the summer by the Conservative government, the Integrated Soldier System Project “features a radio, a smartphone-like computer to run battle management software, a global positioning system and a communications headset.”

In February, Gallant was elected vice chair of the Standing Committee on National Defence.

Correct. It was Chretien that made sure we wouldn't be getting any new choppers anytime soon by cancelling the EH-101 contract. He then turned around and plowed $500 million into the development of the F-35.

Does Conservative MP Cheryl Gallant have ties to North Korea?

Gallant might "really have to question" where the loyalties of her Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke Conservative Association lie considering the riding association's website allowed donors the option of selecting any country in the world as their place of residence – including North Korea.

Gallant herself drew a link between web forms and patriotism during a House of Commons defence committee hearing Thursday, focusing her attention on the possibility that one of the witnesses had vague but nefarious ties to "Russia, Iran and North Korea."

Her evidence? A meaningless drop-down menu on their website.

Gallant asked a representative from the Rideau Institute – a foreign policy think tank that advocates for Canada's "peacekeeping, peacemaking and peacebuilding role in the world" – about a generic drop-down menu appearing on the donation page of the think tank's website, allowing users to select literally any country in the world as their address.

Although most websites on the Internet usually allow users to select any country in the world by default, Gallant said the generic web form on the Rideau Institute's website made her "really have to question" their loyalty to "Canada's national interests":
"When I go to your donation page and I see the different places from which an individual can donate, among them are like Russia, Iran and North Korea, so I really have to question whether or not the Rideau Institute is looking after Canada's national interests."

So, you'd think the website where Gallant collects her own donations wouldn't have a similar drop-down menu too, right?

Gallant's own riding association also allowed prospective donors to select literally any country in the world as their address – including Russia, Iran and North Korea.

What does all of this mean? There seem to be only two possibilities on the table, both equally frightening:

(a) It doesn't mean anything because it's a generic drop-down menu that appears by default on many websites;
(b) An Ottawa Valley Conservative riding association could be in cahoots with Pyongyang.

Does Conservative MP Cheryl Gallant's riding association have ties to North Korea too?

wow, tell us how you really feel, tay

I haven't offered my opinion on her, I have just posted the articles about her.....

Not to be outdone by Leitch, Conservative MP Cheryl Gallant is stirring some paranoia too.

In a blog post quietly published on the Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MP's website over the summer, Gallant takes aim at "political correctness," which she claims is responsible for "hideous crimes":

Gallant complains that "Canadian values" have been "abandoned" and says a "fear of being called a racist" is now "preventing the identification of perpetrators of hideous crimes" – sounding alarm bells about "immigrants grooming adolescent girls for sexual exploitation" as well as the "harvest of body parts."

In the last month, Gallant has shared several articles from "Jihad Watch" – that's a website run by blogger Robert Spencer, who the Southern Poverty Law Center describes as an "American anti-Muslim pundit and hate group leader."

When Spencer appeared in Calgary earlier this year, CBC news reported his event was condemned by a "multi-faith coalition representing Christians, Jews and Muslims," with critics calling the blogger a "very dangerous person" who "incites hate."

This week, Gallant shared one article from Spencer accusing US Secretary of State John Kerry of a conspiracy to "keep people ignorant and complacent" about America's "suicidal approach" to "the Muslim migrant influx."

Another article shared by Gallant insinuates the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Canadian media outlets are conspiring to suppress the truth about a small plane crash near Peterborough, Ontario last month.

An RCMP investigation determined there was "no national security aspect" to the crash and the article provides zero evidence to support its claims that the RCMP deliberately misled the public beyond off-handed speculation and innuendo.

Nonetheless, Gallant reacted by writing that it was a "cover-up at the highest level."

Parliamentarians voted overwhelmingly in favour to reaffirm Canada’s continued commitment to the Paris climate agreement — except for one Conservative MP.

Cheryl Gallant cast the lone “nay” in the 277-1 vote on the government motion Tuesday.

The motion to gauge the House’s commitment to implementing the agreement was introduced by Government House Leader Bardish Chagger after the U.S. announced it was pulling out of the landmark climate accord last week.

Gallant charged that the government’s motion to renew Canada’s commitment to the Paris agreement and its intention to bring in a carbon tax are “not based on fact.”

The comment prompted a remark by Environment Minister Catherine McKenna, who was seemingly baffled by Gallant’s belated critique.

“I am a bit confused. The Paris agreement was actually negotiated with 195 countries around the world in 2015,” McKenna said.

Cheryl Gallant Was The Only MP To Vote Against Paris Agreement Motion

We missed this one...........

This summer, alongside stories about the community fair and demolition derbies, the Ottawa Valley's Renfrew Mercury ran an advertorial “Report from Parliament” written by Conservative Member of Parliament Cheryl Gallant on the much heavier subject of climate change.

While most governments have accepted that climate change is an urgent issue to be taken seriously, it appears Gallant is taking a much different tack, making exaggerated claims and employing a divide and conquer rhetoric clearly designed to score a few cheap political points.

Gallant writes in her June 2015 “report” that, “alarmist claims about 'man-made' global warming have cost the Ontario government tens of thousands of manufacturing jobs.”

Note the quotations Gallant uses on “man-made,” in an obvious bow to the global warming conspiracy theorists.

Gallant goes on to attribute Ontario's financial troubles to the “extremists” and “alarmists” who “cost the Ontario economy tens-of-thousands of jobs.”

On a bit of a roll, the MP for Renfrew—Nipissing—Pembroke also claims that “livestock producers would be put out of business as these extremists believe we all should be plant-eaters only.” (Note to Gallant: I am thawing some nice ribeyes for the grill as I draft this article).

I assume those “extremists” and “alarmists” Gallant writes about would include the thousands of scientists around the world working everyday on further understanding the issue of climate change and the ways we can deal with it. And I would also assume that would include vocal leaders for carbon pricing from her own party, like the former leader of the Reform Party Preston Manning.

This use of political rhetoric is unhelpful at best and damaging and insulting at worst as we try to do our part as a nation to deal with what is clearly a serious global issue.

It's not the first time Gallant has made questionable comments regarding climate change. Case in point is this 2009 tweet where the MP proclaims that “the global warming gig is up.”

Desmog is full of shit and the global warmists are as well. Gallant is quite correct, the global warming gig IS up. Let's look at Canada. Our various govts claim to be so concerned about the environment and yet are they really?
In Ontario, the Wynned sock is forcing the Ring of Fire through come hell or high water. Mining is an incredibly carbon intensive activity and she wants to open up a MAJOR project? Then there's her decision to allow cattle farming in Ontario's north. This means the destruction of hundreds of hectares of forest. Forest that acts as a carbon sink. And all to keep feeding the incredibly wasteful fast food industry.
But moving west is where things get really interesting. IN BC there's the kerfuffle over the Site C Dam. The project will not only destroy more farmland and forest, but 60% of the power it will generate has already been allocated to the gas fields of BC. The gas from those fields is used in Alberta's oil patch to recover the sand-locked oil. This is already going on minus Site C.
And hydroelectric dam's aren't really green if you have to destroy the surrounding environment in order to have a reservoir to provide power to the dam.
I mean who would have thought that saving the environment would involve so much oil, natgas and the destruction of forests and farmland.

Gallant's so-called "rhetoric" is largely based on reality at least as far as Canada goes.
