Who can we count on to stand by us: Europe or America?

Militarily, Canada is a has-been. During WW2 we were ranked 3rd or 4th on the planet. Now the number of illegal aliens in Canada is larger than the complement of military personel. The Libs (for the most part) depleted the military until the Mongolian Navy could've whupped us. It's nice to be a relatively peaceful person (country) but it'd be nice to be able to pretect oneself if need be. And it'd be nice if the equipment we use isn't as big a killer of Canadians as whatever skirmishes we enter into.

we can't even keep Spain from fishing our waters....let alone the mongolian Navy!!! If we need (and we should) be ready to stand alone..then you need the tools and means to do that... If we don't like the U.S. to be in our business then we need to not rely on them for protection..it's not that hard....If deifenbaker had not scrapped the Arrow so many years back we would have stayed up there as a real power...no to take over the world but to have a say!!

Look at Mongolia on a map; it's landlocked, which is why I chose 'navy". I suppose I could've chosen the Lichtenstein Air Force, or the Antartican Army, but I didn't.
But, anyway, not that anyone would want to attack Switzerland (vast amount of inaccessible area and it rains an awful lot) and no-one has for a very long time, but they still are able to protect themselves just in case. A lot of it has to do with diplomacy and the insistence upon being neutral, I think. But it still is able to contribute to the global neighborhood.

I think there is a Canadian identity crisis to blame for our lack of self worth, lack of historical knowledge, lack of military and fear of our neighbours to the south
