To celebrate its upcoming 60th anniversary, organizers of the Emmy Awards are calling on the public to vote for their favourite moments in U.S. TV history.
The U.S. Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has gathered 20 dramatic and 20 comedic contenders, ranging from memorable clips from comedies like M-A-S-H, The Cosby Show and Sex and the City to those from dramas such as Miami Vice, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Sopranos.
"It's a perfect opportunity both to celebrate the history of television and at the same time introduce new generations to some of the medium's most important events," Ken Ehrlich, executive producer of the primetime Emmys, said in a statement on Monday.
Organizers will post clips of the 40 semi-finalists, with fans given until Sept. 15 to view and vote for their favourites.

Although there is no contest for Canadians, there have been memorable moments in Canadian television as well. They include historic events, such as former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau saying "Just watch me" during the FLQ crisis in 1970 and sprinter Donovan Bailey winning the gold in the men's 100 metres at the 1996 Atlanta summer Olympics.
