I have to read it for my literature classes for next year in England. Seems like a good novel. I am curious, can't wait till next week, when I have more time, no exams or anything.

Maybe :sign7: . . .when you have finished your reading, you could give us a book report? Initialize a Book Reports thread?

Book reports threat good idea. As long as there are no rules to the size or contents of the report; just what you thought of the book in question!

Really good idea!

When you put yours up, you have my commitment--I'll have re-read Caroline Alexander's book, "Endurance," and support you. It's the best thing I've read in many a year. And, it will get me away from the television!

owkeej, I am now reading Orlando from Virgina Woolf. It is a bit boring so, it can take a while to finish it. I will make a report as soon as I finished it.

Have any of you read "Where the Sidewalk Ends" by Shel Silverstein? Now there is one crazy man!!

It's a childrens poetry book, but it's just so bizarre, like Dr. Seuss but not.

This is one of my favourites:

Sick

"I cannot go to school today,"
Said little Peggy Ann McKay.
"I have the measles and the mumps,
A gash, a rash and purple bumps.
My mouth is wet, my throat is dry,
I'm going blind in my right eye.
My tonsils are as big as rocks,
I've counted sixteen chicken pox
And there's one more--that's seventeen,
And don't you think my face looks green?
My leg is cut--my eyes are blue--
It might be instamatic flu.
I cough and sneeze and gasp and choke,
I'm sure that my left leg is broke--
My hip hurts when I move my chin,
My belly button's caving in,
My back is wrenched, my ankle's sprained,
My 'pendix pains each time it rains.
My nose is cold, my toes are numb.
I have a sliver in my thumb.
My neck is stiff, my voice is weak,
I hardly whisper when I speak.
My tongue is filling up my mouth,
I think my hair is falling out.
My elbow's bent, my spine ain't straight,
My temperature is one-o-eight.
My brain is shrunk, I cannot hear,
There is a hole inside my ear.
I have a hangnail, and my heart is--what?
What's that? What's that you say?
You say today is. . .Saturday?
G'bye, I'm going out to play!"

Oh, yes, yes, yes. He is a genius! How about Maurice Sendak's, "Where the Wild Things Are?" Have you seen Bergman's "The Magic Flute," with the Sendak woodland critters?

Laura Esquivel's Sweet as Desire is laying under my sleeping apparatus. Has been for months, not a slur on her, I am having trouble getting to it.
Same author wrote Like Water for Chocolate, good book.
I only have eyes for simple trash these days, Marian Keyes, don't-make-me-think stuff, sometimes fluff is grand.
I assume this too will pass.

Don't make-me-think stuff can be just what the doctor ordered sometimes, speaking of which the girl's guide to hunting and fishing was very funny. Your right this to shall pass without a doubt
