That it is. I've always thought, and my basic understanding of schizophrenia is that it is physiological in origin, that it is the constant bombardment of auditory stimulation that wears them down and drives them towards madness. It's probably far more complex than that but this is how I've always imagined it. Something that someone knows is not real just constantly intruding on their reality.
