Will Monkeypox Cause a New Wave of Lockdowns? With Cheryl Chumley

China Insider

Cheryl Chumley and I discuss her new book, “Lockdown: The Socialist Plan to Take Away Your Freedom,” and the socialist and Marxist plan to control the American people. Through fear-mongering and creating a god-like status for public health officials, the American public have lost their fundamental freedom and rights, surrendering them to the government. With that in mind, could the ongoing scare over monkeypox be the next new “thing”? And could lockdowns return to the country? We discuss these ideas.

China in Focus

China’s ongoing lockdowns are driving foreign companies away—including Apple. Now the company is turning to nearby neighbors. Vacation rental company Airbnb is saying goodbye to the Chinese market after a several-year revenue struggle under China’s lockdown policies. Though multinational companies are planning to step back from China, some voices still say it won’t be easy to detach from China’s supply chains. A million bank customers are blocked from withdrawing their own money. Four local banks and $1.5 billion are involved. Customers now fear they might lose the funds for good.

Escalating student protest trend in China; Americans struggling to leave China: Viewer in China

China in Focus

On top of uproar in Beijing and Shanghai, students in another major city protested against strict COVID-19 rules, as a sensitive anniversary is around the corner. Some Chinese banks are having a hard time processing withdrawals. The issue first appeared in rural community banks but has now extended to a major bank in the country’s capital city. At least a few Americans have asked a U.S. consulate in China for airlift evacuation. But a source told NTD that the consulate has responded with a firm “no” so far. Should the United States reduce tariffs on Chinese goods? A group of senators, plus a few other officials, are calling on President Joe Biden not to sign off on the move. Classic fighter pilot film Top Gun gets a long-awaited sequel. The film hit theaters this week, but an image of the Taiwanese flag has sparked debate—first vanishing in the trailer, and now reappearing on the silver screen.

How China’s push for ai weapons threatens the world

China in Focus

Killer #Robots: the stuff of science fiction. But it’s becoming all too real. There’s a race for artificial intelligence and unmanned weapons that could change the face of warfare. In this special report, we look at how the Chinese regime is harnessing its vast reaches of #Data and turning it into a weapon, where that data is coming from, and how Americans are unwittingly lending a hand. Joining us to help shed light on the topic are Arthur Herman, senior fellow at the Hudson Institute and director of the Quantum Alliance Initiative, and Rick Fisher, senior fellow at the International Assessment and Strategy Center.

India’s dependence on Chinese drug materials; Taiwan military conducts annual missile drills

China in Focus

Most pharmaceutical supply chains now trace back to China, with its near-monopoly on drug making. But one country is set on fixing the problem, and the United States is poised to benefit. The U.N. high commissioner’s visit to China has come to a close. It drew criticism from human rights groups, who say the organization’s approach to the visit harmed U.N. credibility. Taiwan readies itself for the worst-case scenario. Its military just conducted a round of annual drills involving the launch of various anti-air and anti-ship missiles. #FloodSeason in China has begun. Southern provinces are already reporting deaths amid torrential downpours, including those of school children. We look at the key takeaways from Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s speech on China. Former diplomat David Stilwell breaks down the best ways to deal with Beijing.

Shocking Photos Inside Uyghur Concentration Camps: China’s Persecution and Human Rights Abuses

China Insider

On China Insider, we take a look at the thousands of photos of Uyghur detainees—the youngest just 15 years old to as old as 73—from the Xinjiang police files, which also contain images of police drills and internal documents—and a shoot-to-kill order for anyone who attempts to escape. We speak with the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation President Andrew Bremberg about his organization obtaining these shocking documents and photos. I also speak with the prime minister of the East Turkistan Government in Exile, Salih Hudayar, about his reactions to the photos.

China Sees Starlink as Military Threat

China in Focus

Is Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet system on Beijing’s radar? Chinese researchers reportedly view the network as a possible military threat. An American investment firm could be profiting from China’s zero-COVID-19 policy, after investing millions into a Chinese PCR test manufacturer. The accuracy of Chinese virus testing is being brought into question. Beijing took down three COVID-19 test companies in just ten days after accusing them of fraud. Is Beijing becoming the next Shanghai? The capital city is tightening its anti-virus measures. But it’s causing delays for local medical care, a problem posing lethal consequences. Actor Tom Cruise’s long-awaited “Top Gun: Maverick” had a brilliant opening weekend for its global debut. The success came without China, the world’s biggest movie market.

COVID Policy Much Deadlier Than COVID

Video

American Thought Leaders
JAN JEKIELEK

“We are living through huge food price increases … And in a way, that’s on us.”
Much of the world has spent the last two years modeling how different policies will reduce COVID-19 cases or deaths—with little to no regard to how they damage humanity. Today, I sit down with a man whose job is to actually quantify these harms.
Paul Frijters is a visiting professor of wellbeing economics at the London School of Economics, a social philosopher, and co-author of “The Great Covid Panic: What Happened, Why, and What to Do Next.”
“There’s kind of a madness that’s crept into the population looking for other crazy things to do … We are as it were in a madly stampeding herd,” Frijters says.

US national guard to work with Taiwan: Tsai

China in Focus
Tiffany Meier

Shanghai eases its months-long lockdown. But more than 2 million people are still confined to their homes. For those who can leave the house, getting tested for COVID-19 is the new normal.
The United States puts more Chinese companies under scrutiny, this time over sanctions.
Europe is set to ban most oil imports from Russia. But what will the move mean for China?
“Cooperation” between U.S. National Guard and Taiwan’s military—that’s the word from Taiwan’s president, during a U.S. lawmaker’s visit to the island.
A poll shows half of surveyed countries are willing to cut ties with China if it invades Taiwan. Most of them are major trading partners to China, the United States included.

Beijing has been pouring billions of dollars into the infrastructure of Africa. But what started out as a seemingly generous move, has dark strings attached. Now that influence is rippling out globally. In this special report, we look at China’s growing influence in Africa, how it got to this point, and the impact it’s having on the rest of the world. And joining us to help shed light on the topic are Antonio Graceffo, China economic analyst; and Jon Pelson, author of “Wireless Wars: China’s Dangerous Domination of 5G and How We’re Fighting Back.”

Comic Artist Details ‘Hijacking Broadcast’ in China

China Insider

China’s second in command talks with 100,000 people over the failing economy. Is he splitting from Xi Jinping or simply doing his part? We analyze why COVID-19 is causing a diverging opinion among top leadership inside the Communist Party. I speak with comic artist Daxiong, who escaped China after the Chinese Communist Party began a persecution against his faith. In a new film called “Eternal Spring,” he retraces the shocking hijacking of TV signals 20 years ago, where a group of brave heroes took on Chinese state propaganda against a spiritual practice.

Top Gun Wins Over Chinese Regime ‘Money Power;’ Imagining War with the CCP—Feat. Elliot Ackerman

Video

Wide Angle with Brendon Fallon

Intimidating warplane “exercises” around Taiwan, saying that Australia could become its nuclear target, nearly ramming a U.S. warship; and now, flying dangerously close to Canadian Air Force jets—are these signals the Chinese regime is bracing to launch a real attack? Elliot Ackerman is a decorated, former U.S. Marine Corps officer who served five tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He offers his insights into what would happen if the U.S. defended Taiwan from Chinese regime invasion. “Top Gun: Maverick,” and “Doctor Strange 2” are breaking box office records. On a battlefield of a different kind, they’re showing that resisting Chinese regime film censorship, can be potentially more lucrative than submitting to it.

Chinese Fighter Jet Intercepted Australian Craft; Biden to Potentially Lift Trump China Tariffs

China in Focus

How do the words “It’s my duty” relate to an over 30-year-old massacre? That’s the new slogan appearing on social media amid the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre, as Chinese citizens battle online censorship to commemorate the event. President Joe Biden is weighing whether to cut tariffs on China as a way to fight U.S. inflation. Will it work? We hear from experts on what might happen. A supplementary reading list for Chinese high school students is causing a stir. One story in it tells the tale of a Chinese Communist Party member who killed his own wife for the so-called “revolutionary cause”—and he’s portrayed as a model hero. China is making more waves in the South China Sea—this time involving an Australian military surveillance plane.

The Ideologies Behind the 2020 Riots; Shanghai’s Health Code System Controls People’s Lives

China Insider

We revisit the ideologies behind the 2020 riots. Will the summer of violence return in the near future? I discuss this with Dr. Douglas Groothuis at the Western Conservative Summit. China’s COVID-19 theatrics continue, as Shanghai’s so-called reopening met with roadblocks and even more problems. Seniors are barred from restrooms, and people can’t leave their houses. All that is dictated by a colored square.
