One of my daughters on a visit to relatives slept through the Border check, the Revenue Canada Customs Lady remarked nobody kidnaps two sets of twins, so when Charlotte woke up from her slumber, she couldn't believe that we were at Uncle Len's house outside Windsor, ON. Charlene pointed out the Tim Horton's down the street, The Canadian Post office, and of course the Flag! Charlene pointed out that none of this was to be found in then "ClintonLand"!!!!!! 8O

yea, it is not the public school system that causes most of the problems. It is the lacking of culture in canada!

Hocky, Tim Hortons, CBC, Red Green. When I lived in Victoria it was the beauty of the Island and the wonders of BC.. My favorite sight in Canada was "Rodger's Pass" in the middle of winter. In Manitoba it has to be the friendly people. I noticed when I lived there there was a provincial saying "You betch cah". In the Maritimes it's all about the sea, and family and friends.
Freedom. The country was a haven for escaped slaves and later, for those would not take part in the war in vietnam.
Onions... from visits to Grandma in Portage. I never thought to see mounds of onions on the ground.
Deer... bounding through the blooming canola fields in a late afternoon spot of sunlight.
The sky... Montana, the Big Sky Country, is guilty of false advertising when compared to Canada.
A fishhouse in the states is a place in the South to purchase fried fish, slaw, and hushpuppies. In Manitoba, a fishhouse is a place to clean and ice the catch and is a sure location to find the fiercest mosquitos (Dawson Bay, Manitoba).

those 50's colour 35 mm National Film board movies, of the outdoors, forrest and plains, and hunters and innuit.
Black Flys, Molson Export, Laurentide, the smell of Export A's in the kitchen, yellow pea soup, Crispy Crunch, Red Cream Soda, CTV, Fish and Chips, Fried Baloney, Dixie Lee, Tims (Why is it all food?) Politics that are illogical, fussing over which language to use, riding the CN years ago, VIA now, Air Canada sucks for charging for beer now, potholes, signs in french that are so small even the french can't read them. Some bastard on his skidoo coming across the field and right past my window, the Hydro bill and a sense of security knowing I'm in the best nation on the planet, even if it is trying to tear itself apart in every election.
First of all, my mother, because she lives in Canada.
Then, really cool thriller movies. Whenever I watch a thriller movie that I enjoy, I find out that it was filmed in Canada.
And, of course, hockey players. I was talking to my Mom on the phone, the day when Canadians were playing hockey with Russians in winter, and she told me that she was real excited about the game. She also said that since she's been living in Canada for almost 7 years, she feels all Canadian, but when it comes to ice skating or hockey, she's all Russian. And I told her - take it easy, Mom, whatever the result is, your team is going to win anyway
