Glenn Bahr (born ca.
1975) was one of the founders of
Western Canada For Us (
WCFU), a now defunct racist group based in
Edmonton,
Alberta.
[1] While it was in existence, the WCFU had active members from and opened chapters in such locations as
Winnipeg,
Manitoba,
Red Deer, Alberta,
Calgary, Alberta and was about to begin a
British Columbia chapter when the group was disbanded. The group operated a
website and web forum with members from across
Canada and the
United States, including Ciaran Paul Donnelly, Jessica Beaumont, Terry Tremaine (all of whom currently have cases against them with the
Canadian Human Rights Tribunal) and William Noble (currently charged with violating Canadian hate crime laws).
While the WCFU was active, Bahr organized a meeting for WCFU supporters and like-minded individuals. At this meeting, fellow
White Nationalists Paul Fromm and
Melissa Guille of
Ontario were the guest speakers. Bahr later organized a demonstration in support of
Holocaust denier Ernst Zundel in front of the Edmonton constituency office of
Anne McLellan on
March 28,
2004.
[2][3]
On
May 2, 2004, Bahr appeared on the “
Peter Warren Show,” a
Canadian social affairs radio programme heard in a number of Canadian
radio markets.
[4] Although Bahr had intended for his appearance on the programme to garner public support for the WCFU, Peter Warren instead systematically exposed the group's links to the
Ku Klux Klan,
Aryan Nations,
Canadian Heritage Alliance and the
Northern Alliance. Bahr faced further problems when
Peter Kouba, the co-founder of the WCFU whom Bahr had pushed out of the group in a power struggle, called into the programme using the name “Richard” and divulged Bahr’s online pseudonym SS-88 that Bahr used when posting both on the WCFU’s forums and those of
Stormfront and
Blood and Honour, both pro-White sites.
On
May 7, 2004, Bahr’s residence was raided by the Edmonton
police where they seized computer hard drives,
Nazi flags, and books allegedly promoting
white supremacy. The WCFU website was also shut down on this day. Soon after the raid Bahr disbanded the WCFU. He then moved back to live with his parents in
Langley, British Columbia.
[5]
On
January 10,
2005, members of the Edmonton Hate Crimes Unit travelled to Langley to arrest Bahr.
[6][7][8] The preliminary hearing against Bahr began on
January 23,
2006 and adjourned on
January 27. The criminal case is expected to continue the week of
October 2, 2006.
Bahr also has a complaint that has been brought against him before the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal by
Richard Warman.
[9][10] The hearing before the CHRT began
May 23, 2006 in Edmonton and adjourned two weeks later.
[11] Bahr’s advocate during the CHRT hearing was Paul Fromm. Part of the complaint against Bahr is derived from his posts on both the WCFU forum and Stormfront forum where he refers to
First Nations peoples as “vermin”:
This is crap! Maybe writing something in the newspaper about this will get attention. When the heck are we gonna [sic] stop giving these vermin the easy way out! [12][13] Advocated killing
homosexuals and the
mentally disabled:
I believe no matter how or why you are a homosexual your life should be terminated. This is not right. Nature intended for us to breed in order for us to continue our race. There is nothing natureal [sic] about being a hoimosexual, [sic] it is for purely sexual reasons. They should be terminated along with retards and any other degenerates that nature would do away with in the wild. What gives us the right to prolong a life that would have been terminated by nature... Nature intended for males to mate with females anything else is a perverted sickness that needs to be destroyed. [14] And spoke of his admiration for
Hitler:
Because I believe in the Nazi ideals. To me it is a symbol of my beliefs and lets everyone know what I stand for. I am not ashamed of wearing a swastika but proud to wear that symbol. I am prepared to fight for my beliefs. I take my shirt of every summer and my SS [tattoo] is revealed and sure I get looks. But I am proud to have the SS on my skin, to me it is a great honour. I take gret [sic] honour in the fact my grandfather fought in the german [sic] army. This is why I will get the swastika, because dead or alive Hitler is my führer. Heil Hitler!
