LOL !!

I remember listening to CBC on shortwave in the late 60s, always liking the intrepid southern Canadian journalist going up to Great Slave Lake and talking to some character in Yellowknife. Man o man, you couldn't find comedy better than that.

Forward further closer in time I had a blast listening to the Nunavut discussing whether the women had the right to vote in their parliament-of-sorts on Baffin Island.

Uh-oh.

Here we go...

Face it, I think not, you came here to rag on Canadians. Here is your very first post from The Governor General, April 12 2005:

Very interesting post. It kind of throws "sovereign" Canada out the window doesnt it? Instead of this constant bitching of the United States on how they one day "may" take over Canada, maybe you should focus on getting rid of Her Majesty that HAS already taken over Canada.
Then again, appeasement is your first choice even when it concerns yourselves.

Really, you spend so much time and so much energy complaining on how the United States is trying to run your lives, and whats black and white in your Constitution Act you ignore.

Its very easy to point out whats wrong with everybody else, take a good hard look at yourselves, most of the listings on this post compares your laws, your society, your people to the US, blank out the big bad US for a moment and what do you see? I see a nation in an "identity crisis", and from what I have read of Canadian history, I'm relatively convinced John MacDonald had alot to do with it. (He was Scottish and loyal to the crown after all)

Then again, what do I know, I'm just a dumb American that is particurlaly fond of its northern neighbor

Yet when challenged to define what an American was you posted a bunch of things that are demonstrably not the way your country operates.

You came here to bash Canadians because you didn't like a beer commericial and now you're angry because you've been challenged on it.

Let it go Rev, maybe one or two will buy your spin and thats about it. I didnt come here to spin, I came here to listen to other views and express my own. If members feel I am anti-Canadian, let them speak up and I'll stop posting on this board. Simple enough isn't it? I'm not here to troll nor do I have an "agenda"

Yet your dislike for Canada and anybody who dares to challenge your country's right to run the world has been clear since your first post.

Don't get all bent out of shape think, everyone is just expressing their opinions, it just seems to me you are stuck on the "were just like you", thats what I ment by agenda. ElPolaco is an american that served in the Vietnam war, so if anyone would have an idea about politics and war, I think he would.

I wouldn't leave if I were you, seems like your fitting in around here, and who will we argue with?? At least you have not stooped as low as jimmy from the 5 and dime, trying to lay silly guilt trips on us. So pour another big glass of baby duck and continue on.

Hey Peapod, what's with this theme about guilt trips?

You think the guilt trip is manipulative?

I haven't gotten yet to respond to your occasional outbursts on this charge.

And so here I will do so now.

LOL !

Nah, not yet.

For now I do want you to know that Canada in my opinion is a good country and your politics is extremely extremely interesting.

Nunavut !

Quebec separatists !!

Illegal English only signs.

Immensely interesting.

Beautiful country. I Grew up on fishing trips on the Rideau lake chain in Ontario.

I wonder idly that once one province secedes from the federal government of Canada, so will more provinces.

It's a thing most Americans didn't really learn in history class from our own civil war. Most learned historians believe that the United States would have easily become 4 or 5 countries had the Northern states not defeated the southern states.

The precedent of seccession would have succeeded !!!

But one person most of all knew that possibility.
Abraham Lincoln.

And also I see the wheel being re-invented in Europe, as nations become like states in the European Union.

Yeah they'll do it differently.

Their arrogance prohibits them from learning from how the states here considered themselves more powerful than the national govt before our civil war.

A lot of parallels, but the intellectuals won't see it.

Do these thoughts from an American contribute to this thread of what an American is, or what a Canadian is, or what a European is ?

.

Hey Jimmy its like this, I don't really care for the way you come with hat in hand and try to guilt us about Iraq. Man, that help the suffering people of Iraq is over the top. And Jimmy, you are not gonna show me anything, coz I am not interested in anything you have to say, since you decided to use the suffering of people to try and munipulate us. Try something else. Mom likes butter, I don't.

You must recall Peapod that you and many others in the world really had your own hat in hand worrying about what the embargo (before the war) was doing to the poor people of Iraq.

Now you sit it mostly out, comfortably.

You condemn a lot and look at you, sending 150 troops to Sudan while condemning America for sending no one there.

What a gutsy move backing up a shallow morality play.

You don't want America going into Sudan do you?

Why doesn't your country take the lead and show how it gets done.

This is a sincere question.

A sincere challenge.

You're the one choosing no sincerity on the matter.

Characterize my point as you wish.

The fact that everyone expresses their opinions and differ so much is what I like about this board. I'm not stuck on anything and I don't have that "agenda", I think I participate on other threads as well.
Elpolaco may know war and he may know politics, I asked him how he gets the "praying to the flag" idea and why being from blue state new york was amusing to him.

Well thanks for wanting me to stick around to argue with. :p I think. Interesting people posting on this board.

Mrmoms neverending quest to find links and post them, (I read them all mrmom, calm down a bit :p ). And pretty open minded person.

I like JoCanadians comics, I find them hilarious.

I also like Numure and Cathou, they seem very passionate and open on Quebec issues.(Si vous deux lisent ceci, mon français est assez mauvais, désolé de cela. Mais j'apprécie lisant vos postes beaucoup.)

Bluealbertas interesting and fun way he speaks about Alberta and politics. (by the way blue, I have friends in Canada, conservatives, they all think Harper is nuts :p , just their opinion)

Ah yes, Jimmoyer, his short phrases, much to learn from him.

Of course peapod, has much more to talk about other than politics.

Vanni and his conspiracy theories, open minded however (not bad for a lefty :p ). Not always overly serious and cracks a few laughs.

Reverand Blair, so far to the left, he makes Karl Marx look like Ronald Reagan, but you gotta love his tenacity.

There are many others, but I'm rambling. Well time for dinner :D

Think, with the rev, what you see is what you get. You make it sound like he is just making this stuff up. He does this for a living, researching and writing. These are true facts for him, but most of all you should admire the rev, he is pounded here day in and day out, for his political beliefs and knowledge, yet he does not diviate from what he sees and believes.

One other thing about the rev, if he does not agree with your opinion, you will not find him playing disquisting games with you. This says more than enough about the people that disagree with him. He has been threatened through his mother!!!!!!!!! There are people that come here and pretend to be other people, just to take shots at him. The rev is not backing down, and he does not need slime ball tatics to make his point. And I say provo to that!

Jimmy does not need to tell us who to help and who to give to. That is not what giving is about, and he has no idea what I or anyone else at this board does to contribute to different agencies in Iraq. If you have to be told and you have to brag about it, its not giving or helping in my book. Its ego stroking.
