I use 3 browsers inside my windows OS, one on my mac and 2 on the unix systems.
IE6, Mozilla and Opera on the A64 xp boxes, primarily Mozilla, because of its speed, ease of use and smaller footprint. Also because of the severe security issues IE6 still carries. I don't advocate activeX at all, but am forced to use it in windows update for BITS, and thats the only time I use IE, incidentally.
Opera I like, but it's just slower than IE or Firefox 1.5. Mozilla Firefox portable is also great, I take it on my flash memory with me so no lugging crap around!
On the mac, Safari. Never had an issue with it. fast, very fast. smooth, efficient. on older macs I used iCab, and Internet Exploder 5.x yes Exploder.. named so for it's rather random implementation of 128 bit security on pre OSX machines... random crashes and frozen macs... DOn't use it.
and lastly... on the Solaris 10 machines I use the SUN JDE, so naturally the desktop environment has it's own browser, because it is one. Nothing is better than Solaris, trust me. go buy a fast AMD Opteron machine with dual cpu's and really let fly... or buy a SPARC and leave everyone crying because you have more money than any sensible person would dream of spending on a workstation... Go on, you know you want to.
under unix / linux the browsers with a gui are nice, but lynx really screams, because it's text only. and thats useful sometimes, believe me.

I use it because it's the one msn has with dial-up and because dial-up is the only thing available in my area I sort of have no choice on what I want to use.

I used firefox for over a year and still think it's a great browser. For those sites that require ie I use maxthon as it's still the same crap underneath but at least it's an improvement in security and presentation.
When opera became totally free (no ads) I gave it a try. I've been hooked ever since. Small, less memory usage than firefox, extremely fast, it's a pleasure to use. I use it at both home and work. The built in mail client means I don't have to have have another program running and I can view the mail in a panel while surfing.
Also has a built in rss reader, irc chat (which I don't use) and the download manager is superb. I use version 9 beta 2 which adds a built in bittorrent client to all the other features. Oh, and don't forget the widgets.
You couldn't pay me to go to a real opera, but I'm a giant fan of the opera browser.

Web-stats usually shows that 85% is IE, 7% is Firefox, almost 3% is Safari (Mac users are using it), less than 2% is Netscape and less than 1% is Opera.
So, you can choose any browser you want but you have to deal with IE if creating a Web-site.

If I were to have to choose between a Web site being compatible with Microsoft® Internet Explorer®, and Netscape® Navigator®, then guess which one I would choose? Besides, as I have mentioned before, I have run into some encoding issues when it comes to submitting text in East Asian languages through Mozilla® Firefox®.

A good web designer doesn't rely on IE-centric code to get the job done.
Done properly, a web page can look great on all browsers it just takes a bit of discipline and fore-sight... in my opinion, anyway.
