Last night I was going thru the TV channels when I came across a singer belting out a Janis Joplin tune ... so I've got Janis on right now ... Peace of my Heart. Turns out it was yet another reality show ( Ihad to go look it up - Rock Star: INXS ) I have no time for Canadian Idol and American Idol, but that singer and a couple others seemed pretty good - but then it was edgier rock, not that pop fluff on the idol shows.

I remember when some country singer tried a Janis song a few years ago ... that version was pure sacrilage.

Hey I caught that show last night too, didn't look that bad at all, even though I wanted to slap the one that sanh "knockin' on Heaven's door.. and the fool that attempted "Smells like teen Spirit" in front of Dave Navarro. Yikes 8O I would have tried out for something like that, and maybe actually tried. I want to see these guys do some Skid Row

Are you serious? I need to get cable. Did you see the interview that he did with George Strombolopolis on Much music? he got all whiny because they were talking more about Skid Row than the Broadway show he was doing...Hello, Much music?!

Hey manda - are you still watching RockStar?

I don't know when it comes on again...or else I would. For the next episode somebody has to do Nirvana's "heart shaped box" in front of Dave Navarro, I would have been terrified to tackle any Nirvana in front of him to begin with, but especially after he gave such a scathing commentary after "Smells Like Teen Spirit"

Oh manda ... you missed it, it was on Tuesday night ... they were all really good. MiG redeemed himself, as did Susie. Good news for you ... there will be a replay Saturday night after Big Brother on CBS. Ya gotta watch ... or tape. I think it's on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week, and thru the summer.

At the end the audience got to vote for their favorites, and last night they called the 3 with the fewest votes forward and eliminated one of them. The music is excellent ... I'm hooked.

( But then, I also watch Survivor and The Amazing Race ... but that's about it for reality shows, until this came along ... and obviously this is one show that can be copied, but never have a second season).

I'll admit that I do watch Survivor from time to time...and some of the drama on big brother can be funny...these people are all so big on themselves...My favorite reality show was "The Contender" I LOVED it :D . I'll definately catch that rerun on Saturday

I met him at Club Soda in Vancouver. It was 1988-89. Skid Row was opening for Areosmith. They'd gone to the bar to drink. My sister and I were waiting for friends who'd been lucky enough to get tickets. So...walking around looking for my friends in the crowded bar, there's this tall guy with long hair in front of me not moving. Between the loud music and the fact that I sound like minni mouse he couldn't hear me.

I pulled his hair, he whipped around, and explained he was paranoid about his hair because last time he felt a tug it was some chick cutting off a chunk! I explained I was just trying to get past....

He apologized, was very sweet and asked if I wanted to go and smoke a joint. Off we went. He was normal (at that time) Seems he's rather....artsy fartsy now.

I forgot about "Contender"... I only watched it a couple times, one was the episode where the fighter from Philly lost, and later commited suicide ... very sad.

Contender was something the contestants did for themselves from what I could tell. It was their personal talent that made them win ... much like Rockstar. The new singer for INXS will win by being the best for the band, not the winner of a popularity contest by the masses that are asses (idol) or by gathering information (lying) and manipulating (backstabbing).
