Just came in, but could see game in restaurant. So happy for the kings, hope they can keep this up
for the whole game, then back to l.a.
I'm pulling for St Louis but mostly in a losing cause I think. :-( They managed to get one more goal but with just over 10 minutes left they will have to play like their futures depend upon the outcome and hope that Quick makes a mistake - which I am not thinking he will do, darn it.
st. louis are very young, and not any stars on the team, I think if one checks the individual stats, they don't have many players with 20 goals, 'if any', not sure, they were coached to use each other real
well, play a real good team game, good defense, and not allow the other team to do much, and score
when they get a chance, BUT
l.a. have a good number of high end players who underachieved this season, it seems that now they are
starting to strut their stuff, so it is rather confusing to see them beating teams right now, as
if they had played to their potential, they would have been higher up on the charts, but doesn't
matter right now, playoffs make an even playing field, gives teams a chance to start over, and it seems
that is what l.a. is doing right now, and doing a good job, it will be interesting to see just
how far they will go, as with the players they have, there 'could' be no stopping them now.
Its hard to decide what team to cheer for, I mostly don't make a choice till a game
starts, then I just leave it up to my feelings, and somewhere along the way I just start siding with a certain team, I didn't start out cheering l.a., or phoenix,
but maybe its the underdog thing, I don't really know.
I'll let you know who wins when its all over, thats how sure one can be. lol

I had a feeling that Quick wasn't going to stop making outstanding saves for his team in the play-offs and on that basis alone decided that the Blues needed a few lonely cheers from me. :smile: Seems I was right in my estimation of Quick and now that LA is up 2 to 1 in the series, the Blues really really need my support - for all the good it will do.
One of the reasons I am cheering for Phoenix is the number of Canadians playing on their team - 23 guys compared to 11 for the Preds. It's almost like cheering for a Canadian team. :smile:
Talloola, have you been listening to the Team today? Heard all this stuff about Radulov? Apparently, he is suspended by the team for at least the next game - and get this - for violating team rules by being out late, 4 AM to be precise, because he wanted a night out.
This guy takes the word selfish to an entirely different level.

Apparently, the suspension to Radulov and Kostitsyn is being met with league wide approbation. Good on the league - it could not have been an easy decision even though it was most definitely the correct one. My respect for David Poile has risen considerably.
they should send both of them back to russia, good riddance, they just 'don't get it', but the
radulov behavior doesn't surprise me at all, and the kostitsons have kind of a shaded past too,
I think from their time in montreal.
yeah, seems there is 'no' underdogs I guess, how can one figure out what team it
would be, only by the season standings, but that has gone down the toilet now.

Hell of a game in Washington last night! By the time the game winner was scored by NY in triple OT, I was almost pulling for both teams. Hard fought hockey especially during those OTs. The guys were dragging on the ice by the time the 6th period started. Almost wished that it could win in a tie as both goalies were so good in goal. Holtby stopped 47 of 49 shots and Lundquist stopped 45 of 46. There were many heroes on both sides last night, to be honest, but Andy McDonaugh for the Rangers was outstanding and I have to give him credit (even if he plays for Tortie. ). Really looking forward to the next game.
Also, the Coyotes were unable to prevail over the Preds who, to give them credit which they are due what with all the extra-curricular stuff going on, played to win and did so. Didn't watch the game, only the highlights this morning as the Caps vs Rangers had me riveted. Better luck next time Coyotes.

NEWARK, N.J. -- The Philadelphia Flyers better start worrying about the New Jersey Devils, and soon -- real soon.
Ilya Kovalchuk had a goal and two assists in his return to the lineup and set up Alexei Ponikarovsky's tally with 2:39 left in overtime as the Devils defeated the Flyers, 4-3, Thursday night to take a 2-1 lead in this Eastern Conference semifinal series.
"Winning this game in overtime is a big plus," said Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur, who made 25 saves. "We tried to keep serve, I guess. We play another big one, and we can really put the pressure on them in the next game if we play well. It's a good team on the other side, and we have to be cautious about the way we're going to have to approach our game."
New Jersey will look to take a 3-1 lead in the best-of-7 series here Sunday.
The Devils have the series edge because they've scored 11 goals in three games, and their penalty kill -- No. 1 in the NHL during the regular season -- has been outstanding. It erased two penalties in overtime and has limited the Flyers to two goals on 16 extra-man chances overall. Philadelphia was 12-for-23 against Pittsburgh in the opening round.
"We're really confident with our penalty kill. It's been good all series," said Zach Parise, who also scored for New Jersey along with Patrik Elias. "They've got great players on the power play, but we're finding a way to make it tough on them. We had to remind ourselves that we had the best penalty kill all year, and that was for a reason."
The Devils' short-handed unit was so good in overtime that the Flyers never threatened in those four minutes.
Kovalchuk, who missed Game 2 with a lower back injury, then made a pass from his own end that sent Ponikarovsky into the Flyers' zone on a 2-on-1. Ilya Bryzgalov stopped his initial shot but the forward snared his first goal of the post-season on a backhander that Bryzgalov's left side.
"I didn't have time to celebrate because everyone jumped on me right away," Ponikarovsky said, "but I had a great time in the pile."
But Kovalchuk, clearly, was the Devils' top player in Game 3.
"You feel pressure," Kovalchuk said. "The guys played so well, and you don't want to get back in the lineup just because you want to play."
Danny Briere, Matt Carle and Brayden Schenn tallied for the Flyers. Bryzgalov had 27 saves.

Kovalchuk came within inches of making it a two-goal lead minutes later, when he had a shot hit off the crossbar as Bryzgalov looked behind him.
"He had three points, a huge goal, and then a great play on the winner," Parise said of Kovalchuk. "He is a special player, and it's good to get him back."

After falling behind 1-0 early, the Devils outshot Philadelphia 10-3 and grabbed the lead when Elias and Kovalchuk tallied in a 20-second span, the fastest two post-season goals in franchise history.
Kovalchuk, the Devils' leading scorer in the regular season with 37 goals and 83 points, had his legs in the opening period and it paid off for New Jersey.
With Braydon Coburn off for tripping, Elias tied the score with a shot from the right circle that went off Bryzgalov's glove. Kovalchuk recorded the secondary assist on the play, sending a pass from the left point to defenceman Marek Zidlicky, who slid it to Elias.

I think you meant smith as the goalie mowich.
I watched the game, very good, very even, nashville didn't seem to know how to hit the net when they
shot, but I guess smith is so big they were trying for the corners, and shot wide, that one goal by doan
held on all thru the game and became the winner.
back home for phoenix, and they can put nashville away for good next game.

It was a really even game, I agree. I am now wondering what Barry Trotz is going to do about Radulov and Kostitsyn. Will he keep them on the bench; play one but not the other - or will he put both back in - inquiring minds are asking. LOL! Not that I think it will make a whit of difference now, the Coyotes BELIEVE and that will take them all the way. (we hope).
I was reading on the Bleacher Report today that the delinquents got caught by their hotel keys which clock when they come in and go out. One would think they knew that???? Still, I think that someone had to finger them before Trotz checked with the front desk. Saw Rad having a spat with Tootoo during the morning skate...................have an idea that he wasn't the only one who had something to say.
Something was said on the radio about a media fellow who was in the hotel, or the desk clerk who saw
them, and yes, the key also left the time they entered their room after all of the hookey playing they did.
They had to drive over an hour to get there, pretty stupid, and totally lacking in any class or thought
about their team or teammates.
It was them who are responsible for the problems the team is having, and no one can blame the coach if he
plays them or not, they did their own damage, and whatever happens to them is their own fault.
Some say radulov should have played, but who knows what would have happened if he had of played, just as
easy as he could have scored a goal, he could have caused a goal that would have made it 2-0, so that
is history now, and doesn't matter, next game matters.

In hockey news..........the Caps and Rangers are tied-up 2 to 2 in the 3rd period and Lundquist has made some truly remarkable saves - darn him.
The Capitals are sacrificing themselves to stop shots and so far have stopped something like 20+ shots with their bods - they are not going lightly into the dark night. My hope is that they will go out into the light. :smile:
With 7+ minutes left in the 3rd, Hagelin drew a slashing penalty on Karlsson and the Caps have a PP. Go, Caps, Go! OH THEY SCORED. A PP GOAL FOR THE CAPS.

Didn't get the name of the goal scorer for the Caps but it was a beauty from the top of the circle to the right of the net. Just a great straight shot on the net that whistled by Lundquist - all he heard was the noise of the puck and the whack of the net.
It was Green who scored for the Caps.
THEY WON.............THEY WON THE GAME. THE CAPS WON!
And the legend of Holtby lives on! They fought hard in the 3rd period, which is all I saw of the game having switched from the World's. Don't know how they played in the other two, but man they played in this one. They are going to be black and blue all over - the shots they stopped - phenomenal. Well done Capitals. The Caps have tied the series. Rock on Washington!
