I had to count to ten before I could actually believe what happened, as I tuned in late.

Dale Hunter seemed to have reined this team in and made it his, even though Ovetchkin is still whining
like a spoiled brat, he better take a step back and have more respect for his coach.

If anyone remembers Dale Hunter, when he played, he was a very 'dirty' player, he isn't a stranger
to getting things done anywhichway, not sayin he is telling his players to be that way, i'm sure he
has grown up since those days, but he won't let them be sissys thats for sure.
Semin better get his ass in gear, or he will be shipped back to russia this summer, he is so lazy,
but has tons of talent that he doesn't use properly, well, if they want to move along in these playoffs
now, he better get to it.

I'll bet there was a bit of deja vu for Dale as he was the guy to score the OT goal in 1988! Funny that. Watching Hockey2Night right now and of course they are showing the game highlights which have me laughing like mad - that game announcer was so excited he could hardly get his words out.

Holtby stopped 31 shots on the net and gave his guys a chance at the win.........really can't say enough about this young kid.

I hope his heart survived his joy, that was delightful, and another announcer that is really fun to hear
is the 'radio' guy for pittsburg, he has so many funny sayings after he sees a big play, one for
example is : 'well, ya can scratch my back with a hacksaw' after that goal.

And he has many more right off the top sayings, they play them on team 1040 sometimes.

Gotta agree, some of them have me holding my sides, tears running down my face with the comments they make..........the SportsNet guys come up with some dozies too. Love the 'hacksaw' one, talloola........hadn't heard that one before.

Whoa! The fans are getting their money's worth so far...........the pace in the first 15 minutes of the Sens vs Rangers game was unreal. Sens had a great chance to try for a goal on a PP but came up short. Refs are backing off anything that isn't really obvious.

Shots were 10 to 8 for Ottawa in the first period but the game remains scoreless going to the first intermission. Great game so far, lots of action at both ends of the rink.

I just came in, missed the first period, right now teams seem to be a bit tentative, these seventh
games are interesting, but no one wants to make a mistake, so sometimes there is a bit too much
thinking out there, and not enough free play, instinctive play, no one wants to be the goat, as
hamhuis was in canucks last game, trying to carry that puck like he 'never' did before, and it all
backfired, he wanted to make a difference.

rangers just scored, one could see that goal developing, oh well, uphill climb for senators now,
they will have to take a few offensive chances to get that tieing goal.

I don't know how the Panthers and Devils are doing as I have been glued to this game. MAN! What a great game so far - the pace at time is almost breathless. Bodies all over the ice, pile-ups in the corner - some wild and woolly hockey tonight in Madison Square Gardens.

Yep, the Rangers were up 2 - 0 and who but Alfie stepped up to make it a one goal game then he went on to play hard against the boards and landed a solid hit to boot. Now that's heart.

Oh poop..........Ottawa just took a penalty right in front of the net - dumb move Kuba with only a 1:24 and counting left in the period.

At the end of the 2nd, NY will go to the lockeroom up by one and with 32 seconds left in a PP.

The Senators have to lay everything out there in the 3rd. Either Karlsson (show us some of that Norris nominee play, kid) or Spezza have to score and score early to give them a chance. No more stupid penalties - NY is way to good to give them 2 minutes of 5 on 4.

GO, SENATORS, GO

Oh good grief, just switched to TSN for the other game tonight and saw Kopecski?? wipe out his own team-mate Madden at mid-ice. Madden had to be taken to the dressing room after bleeding all over the ice. Very nasty hit - face to face and at a pretty good clip too.

The Devils are up 1 to 0 just over 4 minutes gone in the 1rst.

..............................................................................................................................................................

The NY Rangers will advance to the second round after winning 2 to 1 over the Senators who tried valiantly in the 3rd to at least tie the game but were stopped short in their efforts after taking a penalty with just over a minute left. Alfie was a MONSTER in this game - he and Anderson kept them close.

It was a great game - both teams played really hard and will be tired puppies tonight.

Congratulations to the Rangers.

The only thing I really hate about this is that Tortie will still be around for awhile. :x

Congratulations to the Ottawa Senators for taking the series to the 7th game of the 1rst round and for a great season.

That double OT win by New Joisy was pretty exciting, I switched over after the Sens game. Good on Martin for defending his net. Got a kick out of the camera shots of the Panthers management - those guys seemed to play the entire game with their team - the gestures they made after the loss kind of said it all.

That Ottawa game in the third period was insane.

Can't remeber the last time I've seen hockey that good.

Funny. I thought Brian Murray was going to explode.

you're right I agree, good hockey.

the other game florida/new jersey was good too, and dale tallon, g.m.,
was absolutely going out of his mind upstairs, he lived and died with
every shot, then they lost in Double OT, poor guy.

yeah, dale tallon, (canuck's very first draft pick) their g.m. sure was feeling the moment,
not sure I ever want to be that uptight and caught up in a situation, I think I would just quietly
go for a walk, and find out later what happened. lol

Glad to be back in the western conference again, much closer to my heart, don't care who comes out

of the west, I will cheer for them against the east.

I think l.a. is a dark horse in this conference, they have a big lift now after winning the first round,
more belief in themselves, the players who are the stars for the team must rise now and lead, and the
quiet player who nobody expects to come up, can rise to the occasion and join them.

good luck to nashville, st. louis, phoenix, and los angelos.

nashville/phoenix just getting ready to play

well, unbelievable, deja vu to the chicago/phoenix series. nashville outshot phoenix 46/23, and

pressured them over and over, then towards the end of the first overtime, right out of a faceoff

whitney, took a quick pass and tucked it in behind rinne.

phoenix wins the first game.

the game was actually very even till the beginning of the third period, then the floodgates opened

and nashville kept coming over and over, but couldn't score on smith.

Phoenix over the Predators in OT: 4 - 3. Way to howl Coyotes - keep 'er up guys!

Unfortunately, the Rangers beat the Caps 3 to 1 in their 1rst game of the 2nd round. The Caps are really going to have to step up if they hope to win against NY. Go Caps.

well this is really fun, phoenix are going to nashville up 2 games to 0, and tonight phoenix played

a real good game, didn't depend on their goalie quite so much.

they overwhelmed nashville, left them quite stunned, as it was obvious that nashville wasn't expecting

phoenix to give them so much trouble.

that radulov is a spoiled brat player, had things his own way in russia, and can't accept that back

in the NHL things are much different, he can't get his own way and have the puck to himself, but he

thinks he should.

anything can happen now, phoenix are believers in themselves, they are maturing thru these playoffs, and it will

be interesting to see what happens in nashville now.

I was really surprised to see how rattled the Preds were by the Coyotes. They seemed to lose all focus at times and Rinne was hardly sharp in the net. Great win for the Coyotes!

yes, for the preds to become unorganized on defense and goalkeeping, (which is their bread and butter) was
very surprising, just makes be believe that they expected this to be a romp, but coyotes had other plans,
and they are getting better with every game, BUT the story will unfold in nashville after the second game,
as nashville should win their home games now, and if they can't, well, back to the drawing board for them.
Even if the preds only win one game at home, they will still be in trouble.

I'm thinking that it was because Carrie Underwood said that as long as Mike Fisher didn't shave, she wouldn't either. Probably distracted them all.

hmmmm, I think you are the only person in this world to come up with that slant on things, but you
could be on to something.

lol

Caps 3 - NY 2

Rock on Capitals! I don't really care that much about either team but I have come to dislike Torterella immensely and cheer loudly every time the Caps get a goal or a good hit on his team and, I am a huge fan of Braden Holtby. The Caps didn't roll over tonight and Braden - who had his Mom and Dad in the arena - was really solid in goal. He only let one in that he maybe should've had but other than that, no matter what the Rangers tried to throw at him, he stood tall. Mind you the goal posts were his friends tonight denying more than one Ranger a goal, and one in particular, three of them. Snicker, snicker, snicker.

Ovi scored the winning goal which really ignited the Caps defense and helped them keep NY from getting the tie. Now it is home to Washington for the Caps and a much friendlier reception.

Meanwhile, St Louis is being slaughtered by the Kings. It is 5 to 1 in the 2nd with 11:29 left in the period.
