We Are in a New Cold War With China and We Have the Knowledge to Win

Video

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is declaring they are siding with Russia. In a diverging world of autocratic governments versus Western nations, many are wondering what factors determine a successful defense against various types of warfare from Russia and Communist China. In particular, when it comes to Taiwan, an island not bigger than the state of Maryland, facing a potential invasion from China.
Today’s guest is Brigadier General David Stilwell, he is the former Assistant Secretary of State for East Asia Pacific. He discusses what resolves means to the Asian allies after seeing the invasion in Ukraine. How the war in Eastern Europe reflects China’s aggression, and why it matters to counter information warfare. All this contributes to a new Cold War with China that is more comprehensive than just nuclear deterrence.

Japanese troops, US marines hold joint exercises

Troops from the United States and Japan are working together as part of a joint drill. The weeks-long exercise is happening in the Indo-Pacific. How big is Washington’s fleet of nuclear submarines? And how does it compare to China and its neighbors? We look at the details to find out. The Indo-Pacific region tops the list as the globe’s biggest weapons importer, as one country in the region does the opposite. As an American company cuts tech support for a Chinese drone company, Taiwan says Beijing is stealing intellectual property from the island. Chinese stocks see a surge of panic selling and a major value drop after the U.S. market regulator released a list of names facing consequences. Chinese naval strength is largely sourced from Ukraine. We look at the countries’ history.

Why the World Should Worry About China Taking Taiwan; Will Xi Follow Putin’s Lead?

Video

The Wide Angle
Brendon Fallon

It wasn’t so long ago that communist China was offering Taiwan Hong Kong as the example of how ‘great things could be if it submitted to its autocratic control. “Well, you can’t really use that argument anymore. They’ve destroyed Hong Kong,” says China economist and author of “Beyond the Belt and Road: China’s Global Expansion.”
At a time when Taiwan is, by many indicators, at its most averse to ‘stronger ties with China,’ it faces heightened danger of Chinese communist attack in view of the path set by Vladimir Putin in Ukraine. However, according to Dr. Tzu-yun Su, Taiwan is far from being a sitting duck. Dr. Su is a senior analyst at Taiwan’s Institute for National Defense and Security Research.
In the first part of this two-part feature, I explore with two Asian foreign-relations experts whether it really is a case of “today Ukraine, tomorrow Taiwan.”

China is the Real Threat in the Russia-Ukraine Crisis | CLIP | American Thought Leaders

Victor Davis Hanson says that China is very much "not on the fence" when it comes to the war in Ukraine, stating that the CCP regime is firmly behind Russia and wants the defeat of Ukraine. Hanson says that it is imperative that the West stop Putin from defeating Ukraine, and that failure could further embolden an aggressive Beijing.

US, UK, Australia to develop hypersonic weapons; US approves $95M boost to Taiwan’s air defense

Three world powers are arming themselves to combat a weapons system the Chinese Communist Party is developing. A $95 million arms sale was made from the United States to Taiwan to help defend the island from missiles. It’s the third purchase under the current president. Back in the spotlight is organ harvesting in China. A new study by a top U.S. medical journal adds new evidence to the accusation against Beijing: that it executes prisoners for their organs. Shanghai extends its lockdown but loosens a controversial policy that separates children who test positive from their parents. Food shortages persist under strict stay-at-home orders. But residents are starting to break the rules, while authorities weld doors shut to keep people inside.

US Versus China: The Fight Over Influence in the Solomon Islands With Captain James Fanell

China Insider

China seeks to dominate the western Pacific. That includes building up a string of ports to dock their naval forces. Doing so would force the free world away from the Indo-Pacific and force countries in Asia to submit to the Chinese Communist Party’s rule. The Solomon Islands could be the first step to achieving such an ambition. Join Captain James Fanell and me to explore why the Pacific islands are important for both the United States and China, what communist China seeks to do by militarizing the Solomon Islands, and how it can threaten the safety of the entire world.

China’s Digital Currency Is a Blackmail Weapon

Video

American Thought Leaders
JAN JEKIELEK

“Imagine if the Chinese government had access to every Tom, Dick, and Harry in America … and they have the ability to know where your bank account is, what it looks like, what your income is, and if you’re in financial difficulty. Imagine if they could cross-run an algorithm that says, let’s look for U.S. government employees that have Tinder that are short on cash—and maybe they’re married—and we can corrupt them immediately.”
China’s new digital currency, the e-yuan, is the “single largest threat to the West in the last 50 years,” says Kyle Bass, founder and chief investment officer of Hayman Capital Management and a founding member of the Committee on the Present Danger: China.
But the rollout of the e-yuan has gone largely unnoticed, “overshadowed by the Russian invasion of the Ukraine,” Bass says.
In this episode, we discuss the dangers of the new e-yuan, the strengthening China-Russia alliance, and why Bass believes the Chinese regime is actually intentionally crashing its housing market.

The China Challenge in the Pacific Ocean

China Insider

What are the elements stopping the Chinese military from advancing in the Pacific Ocean? And are Western nations doing enough to stop the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)? These questions trouble military and geopolitical experts every day. Perhaps the even bigger question is, what do we stand to lose? I speak with Commander Paul Giarra, president of Global Strategies & Transformation, a national security consulting firm. We focus on the important role of the first island chain and what the United States can do to stand up to the malign influence of the CCP.

Financial ties with US colleges: Beijing’s agenda; Taiwan seeks role in US Indo-Pacific framework

China In Focus

A new report reveals China’s contracts with U.S. universities, worth more than $100 million. One lawmaker is calling it part of Beijing’s plan to overtake the United States. Taiwan pushes to become a member of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Economic Framework. But will it be allowed to join? A German national living under Shanghai’s lockdown says China’s system “sucks.” He says children in kindergarten are more organized. We hear from one of our viewers, who’s living under a Chinese lockdown. As a foreigner living in the country, he tells us about what’s surprised him most. China’s national anthem gets censored by the country’s own social media, as some Chinese citizens use the song to criticize Beijing’s policy instead of to praise the ruling party.
