It's a good thing Colin Kaepernick didn't have to take a knee for this one.
Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul, kicked off the American Thanksgiving Vikings-Lions match with a casual four and a half minute rendition of The Star Spangled Banner, an anthem version deemed far too long by Twitter standards.
The length made for some fairly awkward shots of impatient players and coaches and the flag bearers got a solid arm workout.
But, to be fair, the anthem was pretty incredible.

We should all be thankful today that this legend is still around to grace us with such a performance. I am not American, and that made me a bit emotional.

Not a big fan of that version of singing but many are. Guess I prefer the more traditional performance. Don't care for Patty Labelle either who sings the same style.
