Quran 40: 18, which means:

(Warn them, [O Mohammed, of the punishment] of the Day of the Imminent a [hour of their death]:

When – concealing [their terror and being powerless
b] – their hearts will be at extreme terror.

And wrong-doers will have no ‘intimate friend’ [to save them] nor an intercessor
c to be obeyed.)
...........................................................................

18 a Which is the last hour of their life, when they will see the angels of death, seizing their souls out of their bodies.

18 b i.e. they will conceal their terror within themselves, and will not have any way to be saved from the punishment.

18 c Whose intercession may be accepted about them.

Comment:
The wise man: the God-fearing always remembers about his death,
while the atheist and blasphemer: the wrong-doer always forgets about his death, and tries to avoid thinking about it.

One of my relatives has died 4 days ago; he was kind-hearted: he helped the poor and needy; he did not transgress on others according to my impression; so God lengthened his life and he lived about 97 years; he had qualified in America with PhD degree in engineering; he worked in the irrigation and dam affairs.

He told me about an incident which might prove my word that God might have increased his life many years more (because of his kindness and charity offering)

He said: Once I crossed the street, and found myself fallen then some persons came and said: Arise lest a car comes and strikes you, so they took me to the safe other side of the street.

The rescuer said: "Now, I have saved you, give me your precious pen!"

I said: "With delight"

So I took the pen out of my pocket to give him; but where is he: none was there near me; I saw the street full of people [spirits]; then I arose and went my way, and saw the military guards: they seemed unaware .. and the crowding people : I did not see them anymore!"

Conclusion: This man might have died, and then given more years of living, on account of his kind heart, nobility and honesty.

Quran 35: 11, which means:
(Neither is the life-time, of anyone given a long life, increased nor is his life-time decreased, but is [written down] in a book [of his deeds.]

Such [addition and deletion] is [quite] easy to God
.)

God has kept me alive all these decades because he is not finished punishing me for past trangressions and has condemned me to pay taxes for decades to come.

When Solomon perceived the much blessing and grace of God on him, he did not say: God prefers me so that I deserve all this prosperity, but he said: All this if the favor of my Lord so that He tries me to see whether I be grateful or not!

It may be what is called "God's plan or design" to give more blessings and so the man becomes confident about his own self, while he disregards his sins. And the man deems himself preferred by God as a favorite, while he is full of sins and of disobedience.

This is in the Quran 2: 15, which means:

(God [Himself] does mock them [by postponing their punishment],
offering them [wealth] to let them wander on blindly with their arrogance.

16. Such are they who exchange error instead of guidance,
so their commerce does not prosper, neither are they guided.
)

Therefore, in this aya and many other ayat, God explained that He gives to the disbeliever so that he indulges more and more in his disbelief and commits more sins, because he sees himself given much bounty, while he is a disbeliever, and so he will increase in his disbelief and sins.
