So, with Sears and K-Mart combining forces to become the third largest retailer in the world, are they going to kick some Walmart butt? Will Craftsman tools still come with a lifetime guarantee??

I'm more worried about BestBuy taking over the Bay and Zellers here in Canada. KMart is already gone from Canada.

BestBuy? I heard it was Target! Or are they one company? My recollection about Target is, now that I think about it, is old information, maybe that fell through.

I'm hoping it fell through, since I've not heard anymore about it.. And you're right, it was Target, not BestBuy.

BestBuy bought out Future Shop.

RE: Walmart, don't look b

I think they should all be forced to sell each location to an individual owner. These capitalists like to talk about competition, let's have some.

Rev, that would make the most sense.. Sometimes they do this, but usually it's talk about taking over entire corporations which really isn't fair the the industry and other players... especially the consumer.

I think the combo of sears and k mart is still only 20% of the size of walmart. or mall wart, as i've seen it.

Someone described KMart / Sears as two drunks holding each other up; you know it's only a matter of time until the both fall down anyway.

Something is happening to Walmart! For the first time, their sales are down about 5%. Expect some fantastic sales in the near future[if you haven't done all your Christmas shopping].

The Sears/Kmart merger ( read hostile takeover) has nothing to do with retail and everything to do with real estate holdings. Both Kmart and Sears will be bought out by a real estate company ( sorry, I can't recall the name.) probably within the new year I suspect.

This all adds to my newest theory. Listen closely. All businesses are ultimately owned by one man!!!.
Think about it, you've mentioned some already, Best buy owns future shop, canadian tire owns marks work warehouse, Molson is merging, Sears is merging, The list is endless. Feel free to add more.
Then we look at the stockholders, hmmm, interesting how the major stock holders of the biggest conglomerates are all the big fund companies who themselves have stockholders. Now if we just find the largest stockholder of the largest fund companies we will find who really owns the world. Any guesses as to who it is?, Trump, Madonna, Bush, Sheik Mohammed Mohammed.

It's the one family we should all suspect-the Ibn Ladins! And it is well known that the Illuminati rule the world & I am proud to be a junior member of that august group.

Karl Marx predicted this would happen. He saw it as a neccessary step on the way to true communism. Keep that in mind the next time some capitalist calls you a communist. ;-)

More power to sears and kmart if the competition reduces our prices. With walmart, if you don't need the help of a clerk, its a great place to shop.

I've been in wal-mart a couple of times and I've found absolutely nothing that I would want. The electronics stuff seems worse than the stuff you can buy from costco (which are lemons) and the clothing seems socialist. Stuff that everyone walking around the store has :p (Does that make sense to you?).

I went there also to buy a coffee machine a few years ago, I ended up returning two different models because they just sucked. I ended up buying one for a little more at The Bay on their electronics floor. What a good move that was. I love my coffee :D

Wal-Mart imo is junk. Their products are all, well, junk.

By saying "all junk", I don't mean everything there isn't worth something, I just think you can get better quality elsewhere.
