Vulgar decal of Notley and Trudeau may be offensive, but not illegal

A picture of a vulgar decal pasted on the back window of a pick-up truck is making the rounds on social media in Alberta.

It shows a picture of Premier Rachel Notley and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau with the caption: “next elections: ditch the b**** and punt the c***”

RCMP Spokesperson Gibson Glavin said officers can’t charge the owner just based on the offensive message, unless it was threatening in nature.

“If it’s something that is inviting or inciting people to commit a crime that they otherwise wouldn’t be doing, in other words, an incitement, it has be very specific language that’s essentially saying, I want everybody to do this,” he said. “Things that are offensive are not necessarily criminal.”

Glavin said if the driver is not able to see out of the window, then there could be a charge.

Last year, an Edmonton man was given a $543 ticket for having an ‘F*** Harper’ sign in his vehicle for apparently distracting other drivers.

Why would anyone get upset about it? It's just indicative of a level of mentality common in some segments of the population.
