NEW YORK -- Time magazine has named Russian President Vladimir Putin its "Person of the Year.''
Time managing editor Richard Stengel says the 2007 honour went to the Russian leader for his "extraordinary feat of leadership in taking a country that was in chaos and bringing it stability.''
Others in the running included Nobel laureate and former U.S. vice-president Al Gore and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.
This year's honour returned to the magazine's tradition of picking an individual.
Last year's choice was anyone creating or using content on the World Wide Web.
Previous winners have also included Bono, President George W. Bush and Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos.
Is Putin really the Man of the Year?
I mean, I can think of a few others this past year who did much more to gain attention worldwide.
If you do not agree Putin is the Man of the Year..... who would you suggest and why?
