Video Game "Kill The F*ggot" Causes Uproar, Gets Pulled

By Luke Malone May 05, 2015

A violently anti-gay and transphobic video game has been pulled from download website Steam for violating its terms of service. “Kill the Faggot,” which first appeared on Monday morning, is an arcade-style first person shooter, where users are encouraged to kill gay men and trans people—the narrator shouting “transgender killed” and “fag down” each time a hit is successful.
The game was created by Randall Herman, who Ars Technica describes as a “California developer, skateboarder, and Christian shoe promoter.” Herman has since claimed the game is meant to be a satirical takedown of political correctness.

He posted this to Skaldic Games, his game shop, where the title is still available for download:
“These people that think if you are even remotely homophobic, you are ‘hateful’ and a ‘bigot,’ and do everything they can to destroy you in every vicious way possible. So I decided to go down a path that most developers are afraid to go down: to piss these people off by making the most overly offensive game possible to these idiots to prove a point.”
However, many didn’t see it that way, with visitors filing multiple complaints to Steam. “Kill the Faggot” was taken down two hours after it was uploaded.
Herman is undeterred, and has plans for the future:
“As for an apology. Ain’t gonna happen. To everyone that got overly offended. Good, thats what we were going for. Just wait for our next game we are working on, its gonna be way more offensive as this one.”

Maybe they should continue to sell the game and just arrest those who purchase it under hate crime laws?

Not possible in California. No hate crime laws in the sense you mean. In the U.S., all "hate crimes" have to be attached to actual crimes, like assault, arson, or vandalism.
