The conservatives have given away over $30 million in severance pay since 2006, isn't government supposed to responsibly manage public funds instead of hugely rewarding former staff. Working for government at a high level shouldn't be on par with winning the lottery.

Payouts To Departing Federal Political Staff Cost $30M Since 2006

The Conservative government has shelled out more than $30 million in severance and separation payments to departing political staffers since 2006, according to documents filed in the House of Commons last week in response to a written query from Liberal MP Rodger Cuzner.

Topping the list for payouts is the Privy Council Office, which lists more than $5 million in combined severance and separation pay, followed by Industry and Foreign Affairs, at just over $2.2 million each. The Privy Council Office is the federal office the supports the prime minister and cabinet.

At the other end of the scale, the Office of the Co-ordinator of Status of Women has paid out $44,000 in severance, and no separation pay since 2006.

btw, for those of you who have seem to have a really hard time understanding the concept, this is in the news, it affects us and deals with what is supposed to be our government. It's not from Bob's Blog and Bargain Basement. If you have a problem with what I'm posting, complain to your ****ing MP or whoever is doing this BS and not me.

It is hard to say much without knowing how it breaks down. The base amount of two weeks per year of service is not all that much compared to what a lot of private sector employers pay.
