US President Donald Trump and British Ambassador to the US Peter Mandelson shake on the deal at the White House

The United States and Great Britain have announced a new trade deal.

The two great allies announced the deal with both countries bizarrely lavishing praise on the the other live on the internet, with both Trump and Starmer bigging each other up, with Trump (who is a half-British Anglophile) reminding us that it is 80 years since both countries were victorious in World War II.

The United States also announced it will reduce its tariffs on Britain as the two great Anglosphere countries once again displayed their admiration for each other.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his Labour Party will be hoping the trade deal will benefit his Government and party as both Labour and the Tories were trounced by Farage's Reform Party in the local elections last week. Farage looks set to become the next PM.

Trump and British Ambassador Mandelson exchange banter over Rolls-Royce as the USA and Britain - those two great pals - got friendly in the Oval Office.

Trump - whose mother was British - said "The British have always treated us with great respect."

Does anyone know what sectors are actually getting tariff relief? Curious if this helps UK agriculture or if it’s just a headline grab ahead of another election cycle on both sides of the pond.

Trump keeps 10% tariffs on UK but cuts taxes on British autos, steel and aluminum with trade deal

Trump tells Sky News that the trade deal between the USA and Britain will get bigger

"Many countries are very unhappy that we have chosen this one", said Trump

American President Donald Trump has told Sky News the US-UK trade deal will only get bigger and better as relations between the two great allies grow.

"This is a maxed out deal which we're gonna make bigger," he told Sky News US correspondent James Matthews in the Oval Office.

"It's a big deal now, but it's gonna grow of its own volition."

On a day of amazing scenes in the Oval Office with Trump in attendance, American and British officials shared jokes and friendly banter as the two great Anglophone powers once again showed the world the deep admiration and respect they have for each other.

Britain and America confirm trade deal

US President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer have, in the last few minutes, announced a historic US-UK trade deal.

After "shaking hands" on the deal in a virtual meeting broadcast last month, the two great Anglophone allies have just confirmed it at the G7 summit Canada.

Trump accidentally dropped some of the papers and Starmer helpfully picked them up.

"The relationship we have with them is fantastic", said the US President.

"We're very long time partners and allies and friends."

Both Trump and Starmer seem to be quite fond of each other, as has been the case between other US presidents and UK PMs in recent decades.

This must be the trade deal announcement that they were talking about happening at the G7 meeting in Alberta. We thought it might’ve been Canada, but…oh well.

The British were clever, as they have often been through history (it's not by accident we had the largest empire in history).

When Trump was planning tariffs, other countries - like Canada and Mexico - did nothing.

Starmer, however, turned up at the White House and gifted Trump an invitation from the King for a second State Visit to Britain later this year - which would make him the first US President to have two State Visits to Britain.

Trump accepted the invitation immediately. Trump knew immediately that he couldn't accept the invitation and then impose tariffs on Britain - or at least tariffs as harsh as he has imposed on other nations, otherwise his meeting with the King and Queen during his State Visit would have been rather awkward.

Starmer also sort of begged Trump at that meeting in the Oval Office to not impose tariffs on Britain. Trump chuckled and said "We'll see."

Now here we are with both countries announcing a trade deal and being rather friendly towards each other.

And then there's also the case that Britain and America are each other's closest friends anyway. Canada may border America but America views Great Britain as her closest friend and vice versa.

Gave his Son-in-Law couple billion$$ through Butterfield? Blackhat? Or whatever money-shuffling organization Carney (yes, that Carney) was involved in at the time the last time they needed to soften Trump & American policy up.

Brookfield! That’s it! That’s the ticket!!

Well that's different. That sort of stuff is known about by few people. When given the invitation from the King for an unprecedented second State Visit to the UK for a US President Trump either had to decline it or accept it and make a trade deal with the UK. It was ingenious.

And then there's the fact that Trump is an Anglophile. He is half-British, after all. His mother was British.

Doesn't matter. Both countries have a trade deal at the end of it. What these world leaders do to cosy up to each other and make deals to the benefit of their countries is no concern of mine.
