Self-deprecation is foreign to Yanks. They can't laugh at themselves, so they end up mass-shooting people to death.

Wasn't the American in the article demonstrating his take on US humour? It got him arrested. And I still don't get over how he could do that to a reporter, potentially get his face on TV saying that sexist phrase, and not feel a modicum of shame about it. Is that just an American thing? Maybe he thought he'd do mama proud if she heard him saying that on TV? Something to show his daughter one day?

Ya wanna be funny in Merica? Keep it SIMPLE!

When I was in psychosis, it was my self-deprecating humour which saved me. If I had an angry sense of humour like Americans have, it all could have turned ugly fast.

I took it to mean a 'Canadian reporter.' It's the BBC; what did you expect. :)

What i don't get is how any man could thin it cool to be seen on national television saying something as foolish as 'F her in the P.' In all honesty, I'd be shamefaced to be caught in public saying something like that. Just the shame of it alone would be 10X worst punishment than any arrest.

I mean seriously, whatever has happened to men's sense of shame?
Yeah! I remember the days when we had class. We'd just kind of get in behind and just to the side of the reporter and mouth inaudibly, "I hope all you stupid f*cking lip readers are looking in."

*Disclaimer for snowflakes* - A) It's just a joke. B) No, we never actually did that. C) I don't think lip readers are stupid. So f*ck off and grow a sense of humour.
