The Crossroads of 2020​

In these stories, Pillsbury emphasized how the CCP had been deceiving the U.S. and the free world. He had been there and he knew it well. Unfortunately, concrete trade actions with China and sanctions did not happen until 2019.

During an interview on May 20, 2019, Trump talked about such mistakes made by previous U.S. Administrations, “They [CCP officials] took advantage of us for many, many years. And I blame us, I don’t blame them. I don’t blame President Xi. I blame all of our presidents, and not just President Obama. You go back a long way. You look at President Clinton, Bush—everybody; they allowed this to happen, they created a monster. We rebuilt China because they get so much money.”

Different from Fairbank who judged the CCP by its cover, Pillsbury analyzed his information and crosschecked with information from witnesses and other sources. Communist society is different, he explained. For example, an American appeals court judge visiting China was asked how the Republican Party was involved in issuing rulings in legal cases—does direction come from the Republican National Committee (RNC) or other channels? When the American judge replied that it was illegal for a political party to bypass legal procedures, all the Chinese judges in the room thought he was lying.

To understand what the CCP really is could be feasible, even for someone who does not read Chinese, joked Pillsbury. As long as you know how the CCP officials think, you can read between the lines of its official propaganda newspaper, China Daily, on how the regime crafts its narratives to achieve its goal.

In an interview on April 1, 2020, he warned that the U.S. is “very vulnerable” to misinformation from China. “Whenever you become a China expert, the first thing you're taught is about Chinese belief in the power of deception, that nobody ever tells the truth,” he explained. “Everything is done for a principle, a larger goal. And that seems to be what’s going on [about the pandemic disinformation].” During an interview the following month, he said that the CCP had three fears: the regime’s collapse, being held responsible by countries globally, and Trump’s reelection.

As the year turns from 2020 to 2021, it is time to reflect on what we have learned so that we can have a clear understanding of the CCP. Examples such as the Soviet Union, China, and Venezuela have shown us the harm of communism and socialism. It is our turn to defend freedom for ourselves and for future generations before it is too late.

Recognizing the CCP Threat​

Secretary Pompeo said, even though the world’s people know the authoritarian nature of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), they ignored it, partly because previous foreign policy makers believed that economic trade and engagement could make the CCP “engage at least externally in the world on a fair and reciprocal basis,” only to find that the idea was “patently false all the way through” decades later.

Pompeo believes that “the resistance from lots of quarters was enormous for a host of reasons,” including economic reasons and others.

He noted that President Trump recognized the CCP problem even during his campaign. After he took office, he led a major change in U.S. foreign policy. “We’ve now changed fundamentally how I think the West looks at China, not just the United States. Even when you look at Europe, Australia, and South East Asia, they know too. They know that the Chinese Communist Party is up to no good,” Pompeo said.

Secretary Pompeo also recognized that many of the voices from Chinese dissidents “ringing the bell” about the CCP threat were overlooked, and policy makers were distracted by other challenges as well, including a very important counterterrorism campaign.

“We took our eye off this enormous threat and now – it’s now upon us. It’s now inside the gates. The Chinese Communist Party is here in America and the Trump Administration has begun in every dimension to turn the ship in the right direction to get America to once again do the right thing and protect itself from this Communist threat in China.”

Religious Freedom at the Heart of Every Civilization​

Pompeo added that religious freedom is “at the center of every civilization, this idea that human beings have inherent dignity because of their humanness. And if you get that piece wrong, bad things flow from that. So we under President Trump’s leadership have focused on religious freedom not just in China but elsewhere, but particularly with the Chinese Communist Party.”

He continued,“We’ve seen what they’re doing to the Uighurs in the western part of the country. We’ve seen what they’ve done to Tibetans. We now see them doing the same thing to other ethnic minorities including the people in Mongolia in the north part of China and then Christians throughout the entire country ... these things that are fundamental affronts to human dignity are something that is a hallmark of authoritarian regimes.”

He also said, “General Secretary Xi Jinping is no different. He knows that he has to extend ever-increasing power and control in order to maintain his capacity to rule.”

Pompeo said in his role as Secretary of State, he appreciated the opportunity to meet with and talk to people who were persecuted or had their families persecuted, which “has been a wonderful personal experience as well to see these noble amazing people who simply want the capacity to exercise their own conscious rights.”

He said he is proud of his work in the State Department. “I’m proud of what President Trump and our administration have done. And I am confident that the world will keep up this drumbeat demanding simply that the Chinese Communist Party permit people to exercise their God-given rights to practice, and not practice, their faith in the way that they so choose.”

Separating the Concept of the Chinese Nation and the Chinese Communist Party​

Pompeo noted that at the State Department, it’s very important to separate the concept of the Chinese people and the Chinese Communist Party.

He explained that China is a country with a lot of history and dynasties. “The history of this place is long and storied, and the people who occupy this place are good people.” But it’s only after the Chinese Communist Party came in, the Chinese people began to “live under the jackboot of an authoritarian regime that denies them the capacity to grow their families. For the longest time, they were denied the capacity even to have children in the way that they wanted to. There was selective abortion taking place. Some of the greatest tragedies of civilization of the last 50 years have taken place inside of China.”

He added, “It’s not the people driving that (tragedies). It’s these leaders who are stealing money, driving state-owned enterprises to do things that are disconnected from the way the world ought to operate, and denying – while lifting some folks out of poverty, to be sure, denying the basic political freedoms that every human being is entitled to.”

“And so I admire the Chinese people. I am confident that the Chinese people want a different path forward. They want their freedoms, and it is the Chinese Communist Party denying them. But it is important to keep them separate. We have – there are great Chinese people who live all across the world, including here in the United States of America. We want to honor them and we admire them, and we hope that they too will join the call to change the nature of how this regime behaves in its international activities,” he said.

Seeing the True Face of the Chinese Communist Party​

Pompeo said he believes that “Americans are now more attuned to this threat. For a long time, America’s leaders denied that this was taking place, so I think people couldn’t see it or feel it, or their leaders were telling them, no, it’s okay if they steal millions of jobs from people in Kansas or Iowa who invented something, or they steal some technology invented in Silicon Valley or in the Boston Corridor. American leaders said, that’s okay, we’re going to go make a pretty penny; don’t worry.”

But, he emphasized, “those days are gone.” In particular, the way that the CCP handled the coronavirus pandemic has led the world’s people to see “the nature of the regime up close.” There are also polling data showing people’s negative impression of the CCP. And more importantly, as he traveled the world and interacted with people, Secretary Pompeo has seen changes in perception worldwide.

“I think they understand the nature of this regime in ways that they didn’t three, four, or five years ago. I think we are in part responsible for that. But no one’s going back. No human being who can see – whether they’re in Indonesia or Vietnam or Singapore, no one’s going to go ever acknowledge again that the Chinese Communist Party isn’t up to no good. They see it. They see it plainly,” he said.

“And so I’m confident that this pressure that is now on the Chinese Communist Party is real, and not just because leaders are demanding it, because people all across the world can see it. The true face of the Chinese Communist Party has been exposed,” stated Pompeo.

Standing Up to the Chinese Communist Party​

When asked about the recent treaty between the European Union and China, Pompeo said that he isn't opposed to fair and equitable trade, instituted on a reciprocal basis. But for the past 50 years, both the U.S. and the world have granted exceptions that the CCP asked for, whether it’s about national security policy or a set of trade rules at the WTO.

“We cannot permit – we can’t continue to bend a knee to the Chinese Communist Party in the way that we have for 50 years. They will take advantage of that. They will do what General Secretary Xi Jinping says he wants to do. So they will create a hegemonic capacity to have vassal states all across the world. That’s not tolerable.”

Another challenge the U.S. is facing is the 300-plus thousand Chinese students coming here every year to study. Pompeo said that it’s a good thing for these young minds to come here and be exposed to the West. But sadly, many of these students have been turned into spies by the Chinese Ministry of State Security and the People's Liberation Army. Now, the U.S. government has rejected a few thousand of such operatives after identifying them. A large number of Confucius Institutes have also been closed, after “calling them out for what they are.”

Protecting the U.S. Against the CCP​

In the last part of his interview, Pompeo said that after the pandemic, people have begun to see how corrupt the CCP’s institutions are and how their state-owned enterprises compete in ways that people hadn't fully recognized even a few years ago.

“So you have begun to see supply chains shift to other places. I think there is a deeper recognition amongst the business community today of the political risks of operating inside of China in ways that there weren’t two or three years ago."

Pompeo said that during his six years as a Congressman and four years in the Trump administration, every experience he's had suggests that “anything but distrusting anything that comes from the Chinese Communist Party is folly.”

“They have broken promise after promise after promise – not just promises to the United States, promises to the world, promises to the people of Hong Kong, promises to their own people in mainland China.”

“Time after time after time. The Chinese Communist Party promises that if they have a virus problem that they’ll disclose it. The list is endless. They still, to this day, haven’t allowed the World Health Organization to begin its investigation of where this virus emanated from, and yet they promised they would.”

Talking about whether the CCP has interfered with the U.S. general election, Pompeo commented that he can’t say much, and he trusts that the intelligence community would do their job and publish a report as appropriate. At the same time, he emphasized that the American people should be aware of the all-around presence of the CCP, including in schools, clubs and civic organizations.

“The Chinese Communist Party clearly lobbies hard, works hard, they have consulates across America where their diplomats are engaged in behavior that’s inconsistent with what we’re supposed to do as diplomats. We shut down one of them because we – it was very clear that they were running a spy operation out of the consulate in Houston.”

“But the American people just need to be on guard in the sense of we need to be aware that the Chinese Communist Party is not acting in a way that is in America’s interest, and the leadership of the United States has to be very clear with the American people about that,” Pompeo said.

Scientific Prediction and Prophecy Both Warn of An Imminent and More Severe Pandemic

The year 2020 saw the world ravaged by the coronavirus pandemic, and the 2021 new year is already marred by uncertainty, with new virus variants emerging across the globe. All indications, be they based on science or prophecy, point to a possibly more deadly new wave of the virus. It is time for us to take a step back and rethink how to stay safe amid the pandemic. This article aims to provide historical and cultural perspectives on the coronavirus, with the goal to help us gain a better understanding of the challenges we are facing and how we might positively cope with them.

New Coronavirus Variant Highly Infectious and “Out of Control”

On December 21, 2020, the official first day of winter in the Northern Hemisphere, U.K. Health Secretary Matt Hancock warned people of an “out of control” new strain of the coronavirus. “Cases have absolutely rocketed, so we’ve got a long way to go,” Hancock remarked, “I think it will be very difficult to keep it under control.”

This was about one year after the virus was initially identified in Wuhan, China. As a result of a top-down cover-up and continued disinformation by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), the virus spread to over 200 countries and regions, with over 84 million cases and more than 1.8 million deaths by the end of 2020. Many people called it the CCP Virus due to its origin.

But the virus seems to have gained new force in recent weeks. Although dozens of countries have imposed travel bans from the U.K., the new strain nonetheless crept into more than 30 countries, including European countries (Germany, France, Italy, Spain), all Nordic nations, Asia (China, Japan, India, Hong Kong), Oceania (Australia, New Zealand), North America (United States, Canada), and South America (Brazil and Chile).

Increase in New Cases in the U.K. Accelerated Twice: In October and Again in December

According to the chart on the left in the following image, in 2020, the cumulative coronavirus cases in the U.K. had been relatively stable between April and October (250,000 by mid-May, or close to 2,000 per day), but 1.5 million more cases were reported between October and December in about 2.5 months (close to 20,000 new cases per day). The cases increased even faster from December 2020 to January 2021.

More specifically, the daily new cases (per chart at right) have also shown an overall increasing trend between December 2020 and early January 2021.

The rapidly growing cases also coincided with the U.K. government’s deepening relationships with the CCP.

“Until recently, Downing Street was famously defining itself as ‘China’s best partner in the West’ and was committed to intensifying its proclaimed ‘golden era’ of relations with Beijing,” reported The Diplomat in an October article. Unlike the current U.S. Administration, which has a taken series of concrete actions to counter the CCP – such as its immigration policy and sanctions against Chinese military-related businesses — initiatives by the U.K. government to counter the CCP are relatively limited.

“We’re not always going to be able to agree on everything, but basically there’s so much that we have to do together,” remarked Caroline Wilson during an interview in a high profile summit in Shanghai in October 2020, one month after she became the British Ambassador to China. While many Western countries, including the U.S., have shut down Confucius Institutes across continents, Wilson attended the opening ceremony of Manchester Metropolitan University’s Chinese headquarters in Wuhan in December. Wilson’s presence at the ceremony was highly celebrated by the CCP’s propaganda powerhouse Global Times as the “first ambassador from a Five Eyes country to visit Wuhan despite continued pressure from the intelligence alliance on a wide range of issues, from Hong Kong affairs to the coronavirus.”

The number of CCP Virus cases shot up drastically, first in October, with another wave in December when the new variant went out of control. By January 5, 2021, the number of new cases in the U.K. has been between 50,000 and 60,000 per day.

It took the U.K. six months (from January 27 to June 27, 2020) to reach 301,000 cases, but 311,000 new cases were confirmed within six days, between December 29, 2020 and January 3, 2021. This made the U.K. the country with the highest number of cases in Europe, triggering Prime Minister Boris Johnson to impose a national lockdown starting January 4 until at least mid-February.

Sharp Increase in Coronavirus Deaths in Germany

Data shows that Germany is China’s biggest trading partner and technology exporter in Europe. China is also Germany’s largest trading partner, superseding the United States since 2017. This has put Germany in a unique position relative to efforts to counter the CCP’s increasing aggressiveness.

“As Europe weighs what course to take in the face of Beijing’s growing belligerence at home and abroad, it has become increasingly clear that the decision depends on Berlin, far and away China’s most important counterpart in the region. Equally clear is that Germany’s economic entanglement with China has become so extensive that reversing it is no longer a realistic option,” stated a Politico article in September, titled “How Germany opened the door to China — and threw away the key.”

Since October, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has been pushing for the European Union to agree to a major trade deal with China. The deal was quietly sealed in the final weeks of 2020, potentially hampering joint U.S.-European efforts to address CCP challenges. This occurred “in an increasingly black-and-white world where liberal democracies face an existential challenge from authoritarians and populists,” stated a Foreign Policy article in late December, “The history books may not be kind.”

The number of total infections and deaths in Germany has skyrocketed since October. As shown in the graph below, among all 34,000 coronavirus-related deaths, 16,000 occurred in the month of December, with over 3,600 per week.

Between June and September 2020, about 1,000 people in total died of the coronavirus in Germany. However, 1,100 Germans died on December 29, 2020 alone.

The business partnership between Germany and communist China has also extended to vaccines. China announced on December 16 that it was sourcing 100 million vaccines from Germany’s BioNTech. “Communist China has been divulging very little about its vaccine development programme to the outside world. Even without final approval, more than 1 million healthcare workers and others who are seen as facing a high risk of infection in China have received experimental vaccines under emergency use permission. But the developer has yet to disclose how effective their vaccines are and the possible side effects that they may have,” stated a Businesses Insider Indian article on December 17. “Health experts also question why China is using experimental vaccines on such a vast scale now that the coronavirus outbreak is largely under control in the country.”

Inside Germany, more than 130,000 people had received vaccines by the end of 2020. German officials have been criticized for not purchasing enough doses of BioNTech vaccines. Sandra Ciesek, Director of the Institute for Medical Virology at the University Hospital Frankfurt, is an expert in the field. She said there are still many unknowns about the disease, for example, the virus could change in a way in which the vaccine would no longer work. “Personally, I don’t think there will be a breakthrough in 2021. That there is a pill that you take at the beginning of the disease and that prevents you from getting seriously ill – I don’t believe that for next year,” she said in an interview at year’s end 2020.

Young People Becoming Susceptible Population

Neil Ferguson, a professor and infectious disease epidemiologist at Imperial College London, said that the new variant tends to infect young people including those under 15, reported Reuters on December 21, 2020. Two days later, he said in a video that, based on evidence from Denmark, a country with a relatively low infection rate, it was “almost certain” that the new virus variant had spread to the “great majority if not all” European countries.

Similar patterns were also observed on other continents. Zweli Mukez, South African Health Minister, said on December 27 that the total cases in the country had exceeded one million with over 9,500 cases reported in the past 24 hours alone. He confirmed that the new virus variant seems to infect young people more readily and develop complications.

Former Japanese transport minister, Yuichiro Hata, had symptoms of flu and fever on December 24. After being taken to a hospital three days later, he died of coronavirus at the age of 53, making him the first sitting member of the Japanese Parliament to lose his life to the disease. He was the son of former Prime Minister Tsutomu Hata.

America is no longer the land of the free

Authorities had already closed down churches in the name of virus protection before Big Government’s Big Tech allies began a crackdown on free speech. The latest crackdown will only have further disastrous consequences. President Trump won’t be able to stop the unrest.

Indeed, one can argue that some Trump supporters joined the attack on the Capitol because certain avenues of protest had already been cut off. The Supreme Court’s failure to consider the Texas lawsuit over illegal and unconstitutional votes convinced some that the courts were corrupt. The congressional failure to give states the ability to review their electoral certifications, after holding hearings on election fraud, angered many more people. They were told during the January 6 rally that Vice President Pence would not give the states more time to reconsider their electoral votes.

Thousands of people are now being denied access to the public square. My America’s Survival email service has been terminated by Weebly, a website-building service that hosts www.usasurvival.org. For several days, I have tried to get an explanation of why a service I paid for has been terminated. All that I have been told is that I somehow violated a “policy” and that I have to wait for an explanation. It’s clearly political.

Hence, while I try to find an alternative, my only way to communicate is through columns to other outlets, drawing attention to my website www.usasurvival.org

I had decided to use Weebly to construct a website because I thought it was easy and simple. Now I find out it’s another Jack Dorsey product engaged in political censorship. In fact, Weebly is owned by Square, a payment processing company founded by Dorsey.

Mark Jamison, a visiting scholar at the American Enterprise Institute who has argued in the past that breaking up Big Tech is bad for consumers, said in a January 12 blog post that Twitter and Facebook are in some respects “more powerful” than the president of the United States. He was referring to how those social media companies prohibited Trump from using those platforms to communicate with his 85 million followers. Remember that 75 million people voted for Trump, according to “official” statistics.

Since Jamison wrote that, Google’s YouTube platform has censored Trump, and Facebook has prohibited use of the phrase “Stop the steal.”
Jamison writes that, after the elections, Big Tech companies “have demonstrated impressive political power,” with their attack on Trump and his people, and “their ability to quickly and significantly damage other businesses.…” The latter is a reference to how Apple, Google, and Amazon worked to undermine the alternative news and information site Parler. Trump was about to leave Twitter and go on Parler when that happened.

This is certainly “impressive.” It’s also totalitarian.

It’s easy to see where all of this is heading. People are already desperate under the government restrictions imposed on them by the China virus. If they have no faith in the government responding to their complaints, they will consider other options.

Jamison wrote, “Our country had a situation where a president strongly and repeatedly derided others in government and rallied crowds to protest them. Such a president should resign, even if there had been no violence.” I argued with him about this during an episode of America’s Survival TV. I believe that Trump has a First Amendment right like anybody else. He had a right to urge his followers to come to Washington and to request that they assemble peacefully and ask Congress for redress of their grievances. What’s more, before the violence at the Capitol, Trump had specifically called for a march that was to be peaceful and patriotic.

Some people ignored his pleas, but that’s not his fault.

With the news that Joe Biden has hired at least 14 current or former executives from Big Tech to serve in his administration or advise his transition team, we have come to a greater understanding of what has happened in our once-free country.

Their next target will be the Second Amendment. That’s already happening as Marxist “lawmakers” urge the identification and prosecution of “domestic terrorists.” Those truly violent should be held accountable. But people who are simply dissidents should under no circumstances be jailed or denied the right to defend themselves.

The solution, argues conservative leader Richard A. Viguerie, does not lie with the “weak, ineffective, incompetent, content-free” Republican Party. Instead, he argues, conservatives have to use direct mail and other forms of grassroots marketing to reach tens of millions of voters in “a once-in-a-century opportunity” to brand the New Democrats as anti-God, anti-American, anti-police socialists/Marxists.

If this doesn’t happen, the worst is yet to come.

Consider Oregon, where Republicans are in a super minority in both houses of the state legislature and hold no statewide offices.

A Republican official told me there will be enormous fallout from Oregon's passage of Measure 110 on the ballot. With financial support from Mark Zuckerberg and George Soros-funded organizations, Oregonians made their state the first in the United States to decriminalize the personal possession of illegal drugs such as cocaine, LSD, heroin, oxycodone and methamphetamine. The GOP official said this will have a severe impact on Oregon in at least four ways:

• "Drug addicted homelessness, which is already rampant in our state, will overwhelm the state as these folks from other states will flood into Oregon, specifically Portland. This might even become the policy of other states to send them here."
  
  
  
• "Already rising criminal activity will skyrocket in our state, such as in Portland, as a result of a lawless Multnomah County DA, an already overstretched police force that is being threatened with defunding, and feckless local elected officials who think it’s all fine."
  
  
  
• "Hard drug use by youth, such as in high schools, will skyrocket and leave parents helpless to intervene and put a stop to it. Our high school grad rate is 3rd or 4th from the bottom of 50 states, which cannot improve if many districts lose the ability to keep hard drug use out of their schools."

The CCP Has Infiltrated All Sectors in France through Corruption and Blackmail​

After in-depth investigation into the cooperation between France and China, Robin found that the CCP’s infiltration in France involves many sectors.
He gave an analytical example of how the CCP has supported France’s development. He further explained that current French government officials are members of clubs that are either directly managed or indirectly influenced by the CCP, such as the most prestigious France-China Foundation (La France China Foundation). The Paris-Shanghai Club is also quite influential. These are clubs in Europe, with their heads being members of the European Commission.

“There is also France-China Committee (Le Comité France-Chine),” he added, “which attracts three-quarters of France’s 40 big stocks (Cac 40) and a number of large and medium-sized enterprises operating for China (grosses ETI). There are also other clubs, such as France-China Fund (La Fondation France-Chine), which also involves important figures in finance.”

Robin said that he agrees with Senator André Gattolin that the establishment of sister-city relationships between the Chinese communist regime in the name of cultural exchange is in fact an act of infiltration and espionage by the CCP.

He believes that France is one of the countries in the world that have cooperated most closely with the CCP for a long time, and that the French government cannot shake off their responsibility for the CCP’s ability to raise funds and carry out blackmail in France today.

“I’m sure that as many as dozens of people in politics in France are subjected to such blackmail, and they therefore rely on the CCP, or directly engage in corruption,” he said. “It is very simple, and we know this is how the CCP operates. This is the devious nature of the CCP. They would use all possible and imaginable ways to achieve their goals without firing a single shot.”

He said that the CCP would first get hold of people’s possessions through corruption and fraud, and then subdue them ideologically. Since the French leaders are ideologically pro-Marxism and communism, and today’s French people are already used to this, they are no longer aware of what is happening, he said. When people do not know which dictatorship they are dealing with, they cannot fight the enemy. According to Robin, the CCP is the enemy and is clearly trying to rule the world.

U.S. Sanctions China’s United Front Leader and Five Other CCP Officials for Suppressing Hong Kong Democracy​

(Minghui.org) The United States State Department announced on January 15 that it would impose sanctions on six Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials for suppressing pro-democracy activities in Hong Kong.

“Today, the United States is designating six PRC and Hong Kong officials in connection with the draconian National Security Law (NSL), pursuant to Executive Order (E.O.) 13936, ‘The President’s Executive Order on Hong Kong Normalization,’” wrote U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in the statement.

On January 6, Hong Kong authorities arrested over 50 pro-democracy politicians and activists who were “trying to advance fair and open primary elections for Hong Kong’s Legislative Council.” Among them, 13 former Legislative Council members, an American lawyer, and a former law professor were later released on bail.

“This action by Hong Kong authorities is yet another stark example of Hong Kong’s freedoms and democratic processes being fundamentally undermined by the PRC,” said the State Department.

As a result, three CCP officials were designated as “being or having been leaders or officials of entities, including any government entity, that have engaged in, or whose members have engaged in, developing, adopting, or implementing the National Security Law.”

The three officials include You Quan, Vice Chairman of the Central Leading Group on Hong Kong and Macau Affairs; Sun Wenqing aka Sun Qingye, Deputy Director of the Office for Safeguarding National Security in the HKSAR; and Tam Yiu-Chung, Hong Kong delegate to the National People’s Congress Standing Committee.

You Quan is also Secretary of the Secretariat of the CCP as well as head of the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee of the CCP.
According to the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, the CCP uses “United Front” work to co-opt and neutralize sources of potential opposition to the Party’s policies and authority.

The CCP’s United Front Work Department (UFWD)—the agency responsible for coordinating these kinds of influence operations—mostly focuses on the management of potential opposition groups inside China, but it also has an important foreign influence mission. To carry out its influence activities abroad, the UFWD directs “overseas Chinese work,” which seeks to co-opt ethnic Chinese individuals and communities living outside China, while a number of other key affiliated organizations guided by China’s broader United Front strategy conduct influence operations targeting foreign actors and states.”

In addition, the State Department designated Frederic Choi Chin-Pang, Kelvin Kong Hok Lai, and Andrew Kan Kai Yan, officials of the National Security Division of the Hong Kong Police, as “foreign persons who are or have been leaders or officials of an entity, including any government entity that has engaged in, or whose members have engaged in, coercing, arresting, detaining, or imprisoning individuals under the authority of, or in developing, adopting, or implementing, the NSL.” All of these designations are made according to section 4(a)(iii)(A) of E.O. 13936.

“The United States calls on the PRC and Hong Kong authorities to immediately release individuals who have been targeted under the NSL or other laws simply for exercising rights and freedoms guaranteed under the Basic Law and Joint Declaration, and to dismiss the charges against them,” concluded Pompeo in the statement. “We condemn PRC actions that erode Hong Kong’s freedoms and democratic processes and will continue to use all tools at our disposal to hold those responsible to account.”

Robert Unanue, Goya Foods President and CEO, said on Friday the political left has weaponized the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus to take away God, culture, history, and liberty from the people of the United States.

“The problem is it’s a political year. They weaponized coronavirus. Unfortunately, they shut down this economy. The worst thing we could do is shut down our economy, kill our spirit. We need a reason to get up in the morning: God, family, work. And they are taking away our spirit, they’re taking away our ability to work,” Unanue told Fox News on Jan. 15.

“We’re one nation under God. We’re not one nation under Twitter. We’re not one nation under big media and or under central government. We’re trying to have media, Big Tech control our lives, the government control our lives,” he said.

“They want to cancel God. They want to cancel our speech. They want to cancel our culture, our history, our liberty. They want to control us, the few controlling the many like a bunch of sheep. None of these people care about us, we can not move away from God. We need to love and to build, not hate and destroy,” he added.

Unanue said Goya experienced its most successful year in 2020 after leftists tried to boycott his products.

Unanue made sympathetic remarks about Trump earlier in 2020, comparing the president’s entrepreneurialism to that of his grandfather’s. His remarks sparked ire among Trump’s critics, with celebrities and politicians, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and former Democratic presidential candidate Julian Castro, denouncing the brand or calling for Goya boycotts.

Ocasio-Cortez was nominated “employee of the month” in December by Goya after her call to boycott Goya stimulated a 10-fold growth in sales, Unanue told The Michael Berry Show.

Unanue further criticized the left, saying that their handling of the CCP virus pandemic was done for political gain.

“They essentially declared martial law. … It’s the worst thing we could have done, just for political gain. I think it’s criminal, I think it’s immoral to shut down this economy for this basically political reasons,” he said.

Unanue called on people to get closer to God during this difficult time.

“We need to not move away from God. We need to move closer to God,” he said.
