Liverpool will host the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest, beating Glasgow in the bidding.

Ukraine won this year's contest and the winning country usually hosts it the year after, but the war in Ukraine means the competition cannot be held there next year.

So the UK, which finished second in this year's contest, has been chosen to host it, and Liverpool was today announced as the host city, beating Glasgow.

The UK has hosted the competition more times than any other country - 8 - though this will be the first time it has hosted it since 1998 in Birmingham.
