Two popular restaurant chains in China have come under fire after undercover video emerged of workers re-serving leftover food scraps and handling dishes with dirty hands, according to a report.

Man Ling restaurant, which has 1,000-plus locations throughout China and markets itself as “healthy,” issued an apology after the video emerged, according to the New York Post.

Workers there were seen on the video using leftovers such as congee, as well as other dishes, the South China Morning Post reported Wednesday. They also were seen not washing their hands.

“Yeah, it’s leftover,” a Man Ling worker told the undercover reporter from Fujian Television after he used pork ribs from leftover soup to cook Chinese yam and meat congee.

“It’s OK to cook again,” he claimed.

Sanmi Congee, which has over 1,100 stores across China, was also investigated and exposed for hiring people without a health certificate and similar gross practices. The chain also apologized, saying: “hygiene and safety hazards” at a store happened and the store was shut down.
