Currently I am living in the Monster City of Windsor, Ontario....where culture is shackled to the fat man's pocket. I have recently split from my live-in boyfriend, and now have the ability to move from this wretched city...Though I am finding it difficult looking for places to work that hire English speaking people, as well as a place to live. I am doing my research, and hope that this forum may help.

Where to live? ( as I only speak a little French at the moment)
Where are they hiring?
What parts of the city are safe?
Can a 28 year old female start anew in Montreal?

West Island (Montreal towns of Pointe Claire, Kirkland, Beaconsfield, Baie D'urfe,
DDO, Roxboro, St. Anne de Bellevue, Senneville, Dorval ...etc). West End (Town of Mount Royal, Westmount, Hampstead, Cote St.Luc). The English speaking residents in these areas outnumber the French speakers, so you should not have any real problems if you don't speak any French. If you don't plan to work in the public service, bilingualism and/or a knowldege of French is usually not reqired to get a job in the West Island and/or the West end of the city, otherwise a lot of us would be unemployed.

Where are they hiring?
All areas of the city

What parts of the city are safe?
Pretty much all, but avoid the low income areas like the south east part of the city. West Island is safe.

Can a 28 year old female start anew in Montreal?
Yes

Before coming to montreal, learn french, we are pretty tired of seeing english bastard coming in and not learning french, it is quite insulting, if you don't plan to learn french, stay where you are right now.

Which French should she learn? Parisian or those slang versions that are never the same from phone pole to phone pole?

Before replying to posts, check date stamps. Posting to someone who asked a question over a year ago, and never returned, is pointless and a waste of forum space.
