Bill C-32 introduced by the Liberal Party makes French the official language of Quebec at the Federal level, yet does not make English the official language of BC, Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan..etc)? Are English speakers delegated to second class citizens in Canada?

This bill not only throws English speaking Quebeckers under the bus, but it shows FAVORITISM towards the French speaking community. If the feds wanted to play fair, then they had to make provisions to have English as the official language in other provinces.

Trudeau and Joly are both French speakers, so they couldn’t care less about the English speaking community in Canada.

As an English speaking Quebecker, it’s times like these that make me want to abandon my hometown and move back to the United States where I resided previously. Canadians are way to docile when it comes to defending their fundamental rights.

QUEBEC — A group of English-speaking Quebecers is forming a task force to oppose language law reforms proposed by the Quebec and federal governments.


Describing Quebec’s language reform legislation Bill 96, and Ottawa’s Bill C-32 reforming the Official Languages Act, as a “toxic combination” for English-speaking Quebecers, the task force is being brought together by constitutional lawyer Colin Standish.

Standish said the group decided to proceed with a task force because members — representing various regions and backgrounds — feel they have been abandoned by the major political parties in Quebec’s legislature and federal parliament.

“We really want to ring the alarm bells for all Canadians and Quebecers,” Standish said in an interview. “Something fundamental is going on. Bill C-32 and Bill 96 restructure our federation and our constitution in fundamental ways.

“The basic individual and civil liberties of all Quebecers are at stake, regardless of language.”

It's a variation of the long con. Ultimately it will reduce their immigration burden. Any immigrants who have at least some knowledge of English but not French will likely be "discouraged" from settling permanently in Quebec by the language laws.
What we're seeing in Quebec is essentially "lingual racism".

Maybe the rest of the provinces should invoke the notwithstanding clause and make English their sole official language.

As far as the ROC goes, it's one thing to be tolerant and accepting. It's quite another to be used as a f*cking doormat, by Quebec or immigrants.

Sad that the "west" gets the treatment it does and is seen as an disgruntled society while Quebec is coddled with French language rights at the federal level.

This is the priority of Justin Trudeau. It is not sustainable. He still isn't ready.
