26 year old Kyle Clifford has been given not one but THREE whole life tariffs. A whole life tariff means spending the rest of your life in prison with no possibility of parole and Clifford has been handed three of them for raping and murdering his ex-girlfriend and murdering her sister and mother, each with a crossbow.
Clifford was enraged after his girlfriend Louise Hunt ended their 18-month relationship so he killed her, her sister Hannah and their mother Carol with a crossbow.
In sentencing, the judge told Clifford that he will not be released from prison until he is dead.
As well as a whole life tariff for each murder, Clifford was also given these concurrent sentences:
- Twenty years for the rape of Louise Hunt, of which he was convicted last week
- Eight years for falsely imprisoning her
- One year for possession of an offensive weapon, namely a crossbow
- And another year for possession of an offensive weapon, namely a knife
