26 year old Kyle Clifford has been given not one but THREE whole life tariffs. A whole life tariff means spending the rest of your life in prison with no possibility of parole and Clifford has been handed three of them for raping and murdering his ex-girlfriend and murdering her sister and mother, each with a crossbow.

Clifford was enraged after his girlfriend Louise Hunt ended their 18-month relationship so he killed her, her sister Hannah and their mother Carol with a crossbow.

In sentencing, the judge told Clifford that he will not be released from prison until he is dead.

As well as a whole life tariff for each murder, Clifford was also given these concurrent sentences:

  • Twenty years for the rape of Louise Hunt, of which he was convicted last week
  • Eight years for falsely imprisoning her
  • One year for possession of an offensive weapon, namely a crossbow
  • And another year for possession of an offensive weapon, namely a knife
BBC horse racing commentator John Hunt, husband of Carol and father of Louise and Hannah, said "the screams of Hell" awaited Clifford, adding: "They're going to roll out the red carpet for you."

Mr Hunt, the husband and father of the three victims and a former BBC horse racing commentator, made a speech at Cambridge Crown Court before Clifford was sentenced to three whole life tariffs...

"Whatever sentence you're about to receive, whatever misery lies ahead for you in the next 60 years, that after your days on earth are done, on your dying day there will be no release for you Kyle," Mr Hunt said, reading his victim impact statement at Cambridge Crown Court.

"The screams of hell, Kyle. I can hear them faintly now.

"They're going to roll the red carpet out for you."
--------

"What about me? The impact of what you have done will be taken to my grave.

"But on the way there, I want you to know that I stand strong before you today as you, Kyle, are consigned to a fate far greater than death.

"I can draw on the love and strength that I still (have) from my girls in every moment of every day."
