Hey juan, I have bought all the ingredients necessary to make your borsch. I will give some to cosmos.

My borsch?

Are you using lamb or beef? It doesn't matter, throw in a couple bay leaves. I don't use recipes very much so it all comes out of my brain(such as it is)

Blair's Ham:

Buy a cooked ham. Put it in the oven to make it hot. Serve with some of those noodles that make their own sauce (directions on bag).

yum! martins rice and red beans sound very good. I am not fussy about your meal Jo canadian :p

:D You're typical tree squirrel pretty much tastes like rabbit. I'm sure they're crawling all over your area, but you'd have to throw 3-4 in a pot to get a good meal out of them.

Almost got kicked out of the Pinery Provincial Park while visiting some Northern Relatives! There were literally thousand of chipmunks all over the place and one of the kids had smuggled in a 50 Lbs sack of Peanuts so her and her cousins could feed the Chipmunks. (Peanuts are dirt cheap in the Southern US) chipmunks go crazy with Peanuts and when one of the Park Wardens saw the excitement at our campsite her curiosity got the best of her. Mind you, she wasn't upset about us feeding the critters but when the oldest piped up about let's find a fat one for a Sauce Piquante, Daddy, I got a lecture about Ontario Wildlife all the while my Cousins from Toronto were laughing or I should say honking since "Marie" (Changed to protect the Guilty) honks like a goose when she laughs! The rum and coke did not help matters any! They actually though the Yanks might eat one for the hell of it!

Needless to say, the carcass made out of spam with a stick over the fire, we were not amused. OPP jails are not were I need or want to spend our vacation. Anybody want to adopt some practical jokers.

Jo Canadian, squirrel is outta the rodent family!

And now for dessert...

Nana's Dessert.

Combine 1/2 large container of frozen cool-whip like stuff with one package instant vanilla pudding and 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 cups of milk until of custardy consistency

Spread a layer of UNSALTED soda crackers on the bottom of a baking pann, cover with layer of custard, layer of crackers...so on and so on. cover and refriderate

When serving, top with fresh fruit of your choice...strawberries and Kiwi are really good...so are canned mandarin oranges and Saskatoon berries

Shovel into your face and enjoy

First we butter both sides of a piece of bread, then cut a medium hole in the center. then, place bread into a hot frying pan & put some more butter into the hole. Crack open one egg into that hole and cook until that side is browned ,then reverse the bread. When done, you will have what my family has known as a "Charley Special'[after my Dad]

Cumberland Pie

2 slices lean bacon, fried & chopped (Save 1 tbsp bacon dripping)
1 lb lean ground beef
1 large onion, finely chopped
1 large carrot, finely chopped
1 1/2 lbs button mushrooms, sliced
1 stalk celery, finely chopped
1 tablespoon flour
10 ounces beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon marmite (optional)
salt & pepper
3/4 teaspoon crushed dry tarragon
3 baking potatoes, peeled & cooked
3/4 cup cheddar cheese, grated
paprika

Cook the beef in the 1 tsp of bacon fat over medium heat until half cooked.
Add the onion, carrot, mushrooms& the celery coated in the flour.
Saute until the veggies are just beginning to soften.
Reduce heat to a simmer& add the beef broth, worcestershire, marmite, pepper& tarragon.
Mix well, put a lid on the pan:simmer 45 minutes, stirring occasioally, add bacon.
Meanwhile mash the potatoes with 1/2 cup cheddar cheese.
add salt& papper and abit of butter is you wish.
Transfer the meat mixture to a 4cup casserole dish.
Spread or pipe the potatoes over top.
Sprinkle with the remaining cheese and a bit of paprika.
Broil until the cheese is bubbly and the top is brown.
Scoff.

This is a recipe from Cumberland in England; for the Cumberland CA variation, you should use bear meat, rather than beef. :p

No Pea. Sauces are to enhance the flavour. Like gravey. Taking all the fat and blood from the roast to make a delicious sauce. It's spices that are used to cover up the taste of spoiled meat.

Truely. Just ask any pirate.....

eeeeep! I'm downloading it now!

Well the only thing Ketchup is good for is when you want to cover up the taste of bbq'd sockeye and your 8yrs old.

Other then that....there isn't really any use for ketchup that I can fathom.....Even french fries are better with vinegar or mayonnaise.

although not every one on this planet agrees with the vinegar. Had a guy in France grimace when I asked for vinegar. You'd think I'd asked for Guano!

Whats wrong with bear meat Pea? I had one in my freezer a few years back. It is dark meat and other than that it gets cut up the same way as a pig. Bear ribs slowly cooked in the slow cooker are awsome as were the hams, sausage and steaks. yum yum now I am getting hungry.:)
