Voices in the head threads? What the hell is wrong with you Blue? Stockwell Day was trying to paint the Conservatives as the saviours of health care by invoking Tommy Douglas name.

Take a pill, just a little humor. I will have to take a look at the news to get the information.

You guys are hilarious. you'll say anything to avoid discussing the fact that the Conservatives are so desperate to get elected that they are trying to steal the name of a man they have worked against forever.

As opposed to the Liberals being so desperate to hold on to power that they'd buy Canadians with their own money? Yeah, Conservatives are the bad guys, you're right!

That was quite relevent. You're painting a bad picture of Conservatives, as if they misspoke what Tommy Douglas meant. But in all retrospect the Conservatives did nothing wrong here.

Here is the original post on this thread:

The word on the street is that that the Conservatives are trying to hijack the image of Tommy Douglas in an effort to repair their reputation, especially in the field of health care. None other than Stockwell "Doris" Day has been quoting Tommy and making reference to him...trying to paint Tommy as one of theirs.

First of all, the Rev gets pissed when anyone calles the Liberals the Lieberals, or the Fiberals, or the Liberanos, yet has no problem calling individuals names. Curious.

Secondly, what street? There is no actual link or news report quoted, just some additional innuendo. What is the source of this street talk? Street walkers in Winnipeg?

Actually I heard it on a report on CJOB radio...not exactly a left-wing source.

Stockwell is called Doris because he wanted certain referendum rules. Rick Mercer followed those rules and Stockwell got renamed. Nothing of the sort has happened with the names you guys call the Liberals and NDP.

The link is to a speech that Tommy Douglas gave in 1982. The introduction is by his daughter Shirley. Both are pertinent because they were in response the Conservative attacks on health care at the time.

They don't, No 1. As Toro was bragging about earlier, they've done it before though. The Devine regime in Saskatchewan stole Douglas' name and used it to lie to people.

Maybe this will convince Shirley Douglas to run for a seat though. Layton was saying that there would be some new, high profile faces joining the party. I don't know if you've ever heard her speak, but she knows the issues inside and out. Her name is one of the ones being guessed at. Of course so is Trudeau, so who knows?

I do not usually get into the hard politics of things. I usually prefer the bigger picture but neither the conservitives or the liberals deserve much respect anymore the current bunch of them could dry up and blow away for all I care. The Liberals desperately hanging on to what little they have left the the conservitives desperately doing and saying anything they can to get our attention. To hell with them both and their total lack of self respect, integrity, and honesty and thankyou very much for making a complete sham out of Canada's governmental system.

I have never believed that the NDP could make a really good ruling federal party although they seem to do fine in the provincial setting however mabey, just mabey this time around they will be worth a try because the other prospects are not very good.......

Vote NDP Knightman. The first step is to become the official opposition. After that we can worry about running the country. Or maybe not...enough seats and we can institute PR, and then the government power structure changes and it matters a whole lot less who "wins" the election. The people get represented.

Tommy Douglas would love it.

No, that's another lie. It's also trolling. You'd best have a look at the acceptable usage policy.

You Marxists have no sense of humour. Besides, you brought up the issue of Stockwell Day invoking Douglas's name so don't whine.

Yes I did bring it up, because it is important to point out that the Conservatives are lying scumbags. You've admitted to taking part in that lie in order to put a gang of criminals in charge of Saskatchewan in the 1980's, now you are trying to perpetuate the lie to put the same kind of fools in power in Ottawa.

Edited to add: I'm also not a Marxist, although I have read what he wrote and understand it, which is something you are seemingly incapable of.

Well you seem to have no problem labelling people, so what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Damn rights I've read Marx. I read Das Kapital in University. I've forgotten most of it because its irrelevant.
