Police say a 15-month-old Hamilton, Ont., boy is recovering in hospital from smoke inhalation after his house caught fire while he was there alone Thursday.
Police said officers have spoken with the parents, but didn't say if charges are pending.
The fire isn't considered suspicious.
A witness called 911 after spotting smoke coming from the house.
A neighbour told the Hamilton Spectator she was asked to watch the house, but wasn't told the little boy was inside.

15 month old, home alone, parents should be charged NOW, child taken into care. No excuses. There is NO REASON to leave a 15 month old home alone.

I'm sure though, that this is one of those loving 2 person homes that barra keeps going on about.

Don't they say that a unattended candle can start a fire in 30 seconds? I'm not saying that the fire was started by candles, just that it is just as irresponsible (heck, even MORE so) leaving a 15 month alone as it is to leave candles unattended.

All I saw in the article was that the cause wasn't considered suspicious. Which means it could be numerous reasons, but I am leaning towards a candle or perhaps a space heater (as it still is a little chilly at night/early morning) as the culprit. Or even the old child with a match/lighter!

No worries, Sal. As far as articles go, it is one of the lighter ones I've seen with regards to content. Perhaps since it is an ongoing story, they will have more information when it's disclosed?
