Ontarians must begin renewing driver’s licences, licence plate stickers, photo cards and health cards that expired on or after March 1, 2020.

The government extended the renewal deadline during the pandemic, and residents will still have until Feb. 28, 2022 to make sure their government ID is current.
“The majority of Ontarians have continued to renew their documents during the pandemic, despite unprecedented challenges,” Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney said in a statement Wednesday.
“It’s critical that drivers and vehicle owners have up-to-date documents for work, access to services and travel, and to keep our roads safe. I strongly encourage those who have deferred their renewals — approximately 17% of Ontarians — to plan ahead and renew their documents online.”
The Ministry of Transportation is urging residents to renew these items online, if possible, at ServiceOntario.ca.
Ontario is temporarily waiving the obligation to renew driver’s licences in person, including for motorists aged 80 or older, although it remains possible to visit a ServiceOntario centre.
The holders of novice driver’s licences — G1, G2, M1 or M2 — have until Dec. 31, 2022, to requalify or upgrade.
