The lesson from Vietnam War is still relevant today in the increasingly dangerous conflict in the Korean Peninsula. Unless you’re willing to bomb China itself and punish them severely, it’s no use trying to control the small but irritating communist states like North Korea, or in that time, North Vietnam. Without Chinese support North Korea cannot complete its nuclear program. 80% of North Korea trade is with China. You have to be severe with China. I bet if Trump threatened to nuke Beijing and Shanghai you would see heads rolling. That’s what Truman used to do back in the day to make rogue states behave.

Haven't started yet but am looking forward to it. From what I've read so far it seems pretty good.

If that were true North Korea wouldn't even exist today. If I recall correctly he fired MacArthur for making similar threats and being too aggressive without approval from the White House.

Yes, MacArthur publicly stated that he wanted to invade China to defeat Communism. In late 1950, the Chinese army entered NK and attacked the US to drive them south, away from their border. The US was too close. MacArthur was ticked and wanted to bomb China.
