Targets of the alleged plot included political and economic symbols such as the Parliament Buildings and Peace Tower in Ottawa, along with the CN Tower and Toronto Stock Exchange in Toronto.

“Clearly they are motivated by things we see around the world. They are against the Western influence in Islamic countries.” And while none of the 17 are known to have any formal affiliation with al-Qaeda, Mr. Portelance described them as people who “have become adherents of a violent ideology inspired by al-Qaeda.”

If they are so anti-westernization what are they doing in Canada?

I thought they were born here to. The iman who incited them I believe is foreign but i thought most of the younger ones were born here.

Reminds me of a story I heard about from the Secod World War.

It seems one of the most sadistic guards in a Japanese prisoner of war camp that held many Canadian POWS from Hong Kong had been born and raised in Canada. His family had returned to Japan shortly before the war started.

Anyway, this guy was so bad he was tried for war crimes, in which, as a minor factor, his maximum sentence would have been 10 years imprisonment.

His defense? He could not be tried for war crimes as a Japanese because he was a Canadian citizen.

Fine.

The war crimes charges were dropped, he was taken to Canada, tried for treason, convicted, and hanged.

Seems a simple solution to me......

They still have the option of where to live. If they really hate the west Canada seems an odd choice of a place to live.
