The Scent of Fear

The assembly line of carnage in George W. Bush's war in Iraq continues unabated. Nightmares don't last this long, so the death and destruction must be real. You know you're in serious trouble when the politicians and the military brass don't even bother suggesting that there's light at the end of the tunnel. The only thing ahead is a deep and murderous darkness.

With the insurgency becoming both stronger and bolder, and the chances of conducting a legitimate election growing grimmer by the day, a genuine sense of alarm can actually be detected in the reality-resistant hierarchy of the Bush administration.

Bush is very good at installing non existent fear into the American people. 9/11 was the "excuse" (I hate to use that word "excuse") he was looking for. I believe with no 9/11 he would of still found a "so called reason" to invade Iraq. He would have come up with some far fetched cockamamie story or lie.

I bet 5 years from now we will still hear "we got them cornered" "The insurgent backbone is broken" yadda yadda yadda.

I can not think of any logical way the US can clean up the mess they created. I have a bad feeling one day they will say screw it and leave Iraq, and leave it worse off. Bush should be ashamed of himself but when you have no concience............

He must be impeached. Otherwise, we the people of the world have been lied too, deceived, cheated. A whole generation of Iraqis are maimed, thousands killed for no reason except to fill his pocket with more money.

I think that the Bushies are pushing the major powers. Europe and South America are beginning to make deals with China. (Sadaam Hussein did, as well.) If the Bushie don't make amends soon, those deals will become pacts. The major power blocs will look something like France, Germany, China and their followers against the US, England and their throng. Then we will be back to a cold war type of scenario with another arms race. Frankly, the Bushies would like that.

My fear is that Canada will get drawn into it. Both sides look problematic to me. I would rather we stay neutral.
